I’m the world yoyo champ, in the category of having the most fun. I know this as Alexa says it is true and my wife agrees. When my wife agrees with Alexa, it’s fact!

Sorry guys, I win!!

The worst thing you can give a beginner who wants to learn yo-yo is a beginner yo-yo.

1: People are able to do most tricks and styles with mid and high wall yo-yos, we are just oversaturated with low wall yo-yos.
2: Yo-yos made in different parts of the world have different feels, but yo-yos made in the same continent have a similar feel.
3: Speed combos seem to be dominating right now in the general competitive scene and there hasn’t been much innovation lately. (It might just be me being out of the loop for so long though.)

Edit: This is the best YoYo video.

I would say this is true, however, I find that I do them much less successfully, which is much less fun. I don’t think I’m alone in this; there’s a good reason top competition players use low-wall, high-performance yoyos, and it isn’t because of market over-saturation limiting their choices.

Vibe is a person experiencing his own imperfections in the manner of sensing his yoyo vibrating.

If you have a strong throw and practice the fundamentals, there is no difference in performance between flat and concave bearings. Also, the chief is a mediocre yoyo

The best way to learn horizontal yoyo tricks is to use a 2A yoyo (loop 720, Initiator, etc). This will refine your precision.

There’s nothing wrong with starting out on a basic fixed axle yoyo, or with Duncan producing them for widespread distribution. It doesn’t matter that there are better “starter yoyos” out now, people who give up because they can’t immediately get a sleeper or gravity pull on a fixie will likely just give up at a slight farther point.

I’m all for replacing the Butterfly with the Butterfly XT if the market will take the slightly higher price, but the simple fact remains that fixed axle yoyos are a continuing presence in the market, and hold plenty of new yoyoer creating potential.

I started with this cheap red plastic company promo fixed axle yoyo from my dad, and still remember how much fun it was just learning the basics. Here I am today, talking about yoyos, all because of that one little plastic and metal toy I picked up 6 years ago.

I have kept my style as simple as possible, I could be a lot further along but there is no need, been throwing seriously since ‘99, and casually since, ‘87, I pick up new stuff as I need to.
