Unpopular Yoyo Opinions

Unpopular opinion: If you don’t like a certain style of tricks or think a certain style is boring, it’s probably because you’re not good at it.

update on a prior opinion:

Remember how I said I wasn’t a big fan of smaller/boutique brands because of limited availability and unfamiliarity?

My last three purchases were a Good Life Breeze, an SF Bliss and an SF Statement.

Forgive me yoyo father for I have sinned.

Yeah man, nice to see a change of pace here. I totally understand your original stance seeing as how you just got back into the community after a pretty long hiatus.

I bet they seem kind of clicky and overhyped, and the artificial scarcity it’s kind of ridiculous too. But that being said, the yo-yos themselves are held in such a high esteem in the community for a reason.

I’m man enough to admit when I’m wrong. The Breeze is so good I’m planning on getting a second at some point. I haven’t received my SFs yet but @sfyoyos ‘ presence on here and Reddit as well as their refusal to hype up their own yo-yos helped sway me. It definitely helps that their yo-yos generally match my preferences. The Statement is a little wide but I’m a sucker for the offset weight ring placement.

G2 is just really consistently ok. They aren’t better than any One Drop, just more expensive and less available. A status symbol more than anything.

I love my TiHawk, and I want a Hawk, but I maintain this stance.

The Big Dipper is pretty much the exact same yo-yo as the Diffusion.

Both are 58 mm in diameter and 43mm in width, their shape is nearly identical (even the subtle step near the inside center, seen in second photo) and so is the weight distribution. The Dipper is listed as slightly heavier and honestly I wonder how accurate that is. The only difference really is the nipple.

EDIT:

Just to be clear, I’m not saying anyone copied or whatever, every yo-yo is in some way a copy of another. I guess my point is some of the people that ignored the Diffusion for years acted like the Dipper was the greatest thing ever. They are both some of the best plastics ever made IMO.

I bought a collection two weeks ago that had a Big Dipper, I thought it was the runt of the litter. I’m in love with it, mine is baby butt smooth also. Very well might be best plastic, certainly for that shape.

Yeah I’ve always felt the Diffusion is possibly the best plastic I’ve tried. I like the Premiere as a matter of preference, but the Diffusion performs better if I’m honest. Same goes for the Dipper

I’m so glad this has been said

I didn’t know $3 was a fortune

 though I agree “artisanal” silicone is kind of pointless, e.g. is there really a big difference between generic silicone stickers and fancy ones?

Is there really a big difference between $2 and $3?

I have 400 pennies. I’m very proud. Don’t diminish the power of pennies.

A part of it is because those “good” players would get sponsored and thus do not want to talk on public forums due to new throwers bombarding them with questions ad nauseum. This was the case in the days of forums like Extremespin and YYN.

Its the ebb and flow of generations of throwers.

see a penny, pick it up, all the day you’ll have good luck

Totally unrelated, but kinda related somehow?

…about pennies…
My car was broken into last night. My damn driver side window wont roll up so I can’t keep it locked.
I do have a nice portable battery charger/engine starter I keep in my back seat…other then that there’s nothing valuable in my car.
But I saw someone had rummaged through my glove box and made a mess of everything.
My battery charger is still there.
The only thing missing is a little cup I had full of change.

I feel a bit violated…but at the same time I find it comical and actually pretty dang sad.
The only thing I had in the cup was a bunch of pennies and a few nickles and dimes. Maybe $3 at most.
How sad is it that someone would stoop to such a low for a bunch of pennies?

lol I hope those pennies bring better luck to whoever took them! >.<’

I’m spoiled to live in a small little town. Stuff like this isn’t common at all here.
