Unpopular Yoyo Opinions

Already covered this, I say, don’t be lazy and do your hw before you post on the BST.

What’s wrong with someone wanting to get the most they can?

Nothing is wrong with it, doesn’t mean I have to like the practice.

To me, prices should be set with shipping / fees included, not “add X for this and X for that. Even think the rules state to have things listed as such.

Just my opinion.

Most of the “don’t unscrew the yoyo!” fear came from these guys, and fact that they pushed the limits of design so far (for the time). Pre weight rings, they were going super thin with the hubs and their axles were mega small as a result, all in the quest to push as much weight to the rim as possible

Well i pressed the summarize button and…erm…er. It cut a few posts out but didn’t actually summarize what everyone was saying.

“a few”? try 90% lol

It makes it 1/10th the original size, pulling out just the most liked / read posts.

A side: The more advanced the yoyoing, the less it appeals to non-yoyoers, the more niche yoyoing stays.

B side: Collecting shiny things (like yoyos) always holds its appeal.

Someone is selling something because they want/need money. They’d like to get as much money as possible so they ask for offers on the item. That translates to “shady” to you?

Thieves, criminals, scammers… these are shady people. You lump a guy/girl asking for an offer on an item in with them?

Yeah I don’t really have a problem with people asking for an offer if you’re unsure of its value either.

I find it a little more annoying when people say add “add shipping and fees or F&F to prices” tbh. Trying to make their prices seem lower than they really are.

Yes, yes I do.

List high, add in OBO. But make a ceiling.
I’ve taken off my rose colored glasses years ago.

Gotta agree with Vegabomb here.
There’s nothing wrong in looking for the most amount of cash when selling something. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy, if you don’t like the offer don’t sell - simple.

Nobody said there is anything wrong with it.

I suppose thats why its an unpopular opinion, or popular opinion, depending how confused i become.

:grinning:

To me, this is intimidating. 9 times out of 10, when I do offer something, they either ignore me or decline my offer. Or it’ll go something like:

Grail MIB- make offer

Me: How about like 100

Them: Sorry I’ll take 160 for it.

Me: Nope, don’t want one that bad.

By that point, why even request offers?

the art of haggle. you could always counter offer with 90.

I’m with you on this. I fully appreciate someone wanting to get as much as they can for the item they are selling. They should also appreciate that I’m interested in buying that item at the lowest possible fair price. Put up your asking price, throw in “OBO” and minimize the negotiation. Just like I wouldn’t waste someone’s time by offering $40 for a mint ciTizen, I don’t want my time wasted by offering $275 for the same yoyo and getting the response “I’m thinking I need to get at least $550 for it considering how rare it is, the condition, etc”.

My personal pet peeve is “that is the price for ‘friends and family’, if you insist on paying ‘goods and services’ add 4%.” No, I won’t remove any chance of PayPal protection by helping you steal from PayPay, no thank you, I will find someone else to purchase the yoyo from.

Nothing “wrong” with being shady, nothing illegal about it.

Not liking something or a practice is not the same as saying something is wrong or incorrect.

I said it was shady. I didn’t say it was wrong.
