Thoughts on the Titanium Edge

Is this yoyo still worth it today? I want to get one titanium yoyo to be my main and have found a titanium edge, do you think this yoyo is still good by today’s standards or would I be better off going for a newer model?

For reference I have a SF Movment I really like. That is my favorite yoyo. Would the Ti Edge play simular to that? I am looking for a stable and long spinning yoyo that works well for fingerspins

Edit: Bro what is this beef :sob: :sob:? Yall all I was asking was if it was a good yoyo or not :sob:, not the morals of the yoyo.

I had one for a bit and it was a very good yoyo, even by today’s standards. However, I would hesitate to support Evan since he is a bit of a problematic character in the scene.

Why would you say that?

Well you see, he and Angel2up had this greeeeat idea to show how yo-yos can connect people of any race, creed, and uhhh… let’s say …belief structure.

There was a lot of backlash, and Evan didn’t handle it well.

often when this subject gets brought up, the thread gets locked. Lots of opinions around this situation

As I’ve stated my times before, I avoid YoYoFactory at all costs now. Their leadership also has some questionable beliefs.

Good PG-rated way to put it. I personally find it more notable that his “apology” on IG Live seemed to miss the point of why people were unhappy with him, and then he kinda flipped and decided to be unapologetic and resistant to changing his mind about it, even making his own song about it that he did a freestyle to at the following Nats. Being there for that was a pretty confusing and disconcerting experience. Anyways, despite the ethical qualms, most of the yoyos in the Edge series are pretty good, I haven’t tried the titanium one but I suppose if you’re getting it secondhand on a BST then it might be a good idea to get one if you’re interested in that style of yoyo.

I didn’t think Evan was involved in the edge anymore am I mistaken. Not that yyf is great either though

Ti Edge was directly sold from his own website tho, so uh in this case yes. I don’t know if he’s involved with the edge anymore though. (obligatory yyf suks tho haha)

If you wanna talk trash about very good friends of mine when you know, there’s probably a ton of people visiting this forum that may possibly get discouraged from even considering a purchase from yo-yo factory based on your questionable statement… Then I got a great idea>

State specifically the questionable beliefs of their ‘Leadership’?

I’ve known the leadership of the company for close to 30 years now.

I’d be very interested in your stating very clearly and specifically what these questionable beliefs are?

Because if you’re just trying to blow smoke, you probably should just shut up.

….. remember and very clearly associate yourself with the reality that you don’t talk bad about somebody on things you’ve heard. You talk bad about somebody on things you know and things you can prove.

There’s an old saying in my neck of the woods that if you can’t take it to court, you got nothing.

There seems to be a small contingent of forum, visitors that feel compelled to throw Hans, Ben and Evan in a coffin and just keep pounding nails into the lid until the hammer handle breaks.

Even a simpleton should be intelligent enough to realize that defaming a person, persons or business entity can have legal consequences if the perceived but unproved characterizations suggested are not 100% true and valid.

In other words in simpler terms, if you talk trash about somebody and it affects their livelihood, their personal association with others and inflicts unnecessary mental anguish and stress as result of said accusations, it can turn into the situation that can be costly.

Be careful. This is no joke.

… so… Let’s get a short list of these questionable beliefs?

Some questions

Where have you found one? Looks sold out to me.

Why do you want your main yoyo to be a titanium yoyo?

What does the rest of your collection look like? Which ones do you like?

Yeah, honestly, it’s pretty easy to find out what people’s problems are with YYF and Evan’s past behaviour at this point. So I don’t think there’s much need to describe for the hundredth time the issues as anyone who has been on the forum for a reasonable amount of time is very aware of why people have their stances.

And for newcomers to the forum/community who want to understand people’s feelings, a few quick searches (e.g. something basic like “YYF controversy”) will point you to the info.

it’s only defamation if you can prove it’s not true and was said with malice. even a simpleton knows we have free speech and can express opinions, even negative ones, at will

I found one on ebay and one of them used from a guy on the form.

Titanium seems more durable and looks cool, thats why.

OD Drapinur, Edge Beyond, YYF Pergrine, Duncan Grasshoper X, SF Movement, SF Cadence, YYR Helvecta, Shutter, Horizon, Arcade, and a few others that I can’t rememeber the name of. By far my fav yoyo I own is the SF movement though.

Well the sf movement is made out of 7068 aluminum. Which is already super durable. More durable than titanium grade 2 and on par with titanium grade 3.

So unless that Edge is titanium Grade 5 (and I don’t think so) you won’t win in terms of durability.

Personally I don’t want a 46mm wide as a main yoyo. (For me it has to be wider than 48mm, probably wider than 50mm.) So in that sense the ti edge is outdated for me.

I expect its performance to be between a shutter and edge beyond.
