The wait is over for yoyofriends’ most ambitious release yet. The ANTiFRAGILE is the brand’s flagship titanium yoyo, engineered to deliver serious competition performance while standing as a true collector’s piece in any case.
This project began with yoyofriends’ all stainless steel SlipStream, a yoyo the team loved for both its aesthetic and the way it played. At 45.5mm SlipStream was full sized, but not quite wide enough to keep up with where modern tricks were heading, and that question sparked the idea of bringing that shape to life in grade 5 titanium.
Getting there took real iteration. Early prototypes nailed the wider SlipStream feel and had that unmistakable titanium ring on a flick or string hit, but testing at the 2025 US National yoyo contest revealed the acceleration lagged behind yoyofriends’ own Armageddon, and players found the 6mm axle too easy to misplace and prone to threading. The team responded by adding weight around the center axis and upgrading to a sturdier 8mm axle, borrowing the protruding center cup design from the Overclock and Tachyon series to fit the larger axle while keeping that signature stability and power. A few more refinements later, the ANTiFRAGILE finally cut through the air just like the SlipStream that inspired it.
What sets this yoyo apart is its crystalized grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) construction, heat treated up to 1200 degrees Celsius for a subtle hardness boost and a stunning crystalline pattern that gives every piece a one of a kind “ice-crack” look under the light. The name pays homage to the Ti in titanium and to the LE SSERAFIM album of the same name, a favorite among the Kpop fans on the yoyofriends team.
