Hey everyone, family wants christmas ideas and i was gonna throw out the outlier+ as the main one. Has anyone tried this?
Boring and kinda sluggish on the string but good enough performance to take brandon to finals last year. Hub might be kinda fragile for the design tho
Ive only tried the proto but its good depending on what you’re into, great for comp, i personally would recommend the Deviant+ tho,
I liked it alot and its very good for meta and comp if thats what you’re into, but it wont feel as tiring to use after a while as the outlier+ so you’d use it more most likely.
It’s good. Pretty standard compy wide bimetal. I liked it when I tried it.
How would you say the performance is compared to the outlier? I am mainly looking for something to learn combos on, most of my monometals die before I can do the whole thing as I have to go really slow when I’m learning
Any other yo-yos that you would recommend? I don’t compete it will mainly be for learning new tricks
Anything thats Bi metal is a good choice for learning, depending on your budget theres plenty of options, my choice if no budget YYR are great.
Outlier+ is probably better in that sense if you want something that’ll surely give you enough time to learn a trick,
but Deviant+ is great overall price wise, and balanced wise, its just that a outer ring bi metal usually is gonna spin longer to get you through that combo you may be working on.
I just personally for my preference like the Deviant+ more if i was choosing for myself.
A good yo-yo for learning imo is the C3 Plasma Crash. It’s very stable and long spinning and I think the blasted rims are very useful for learning tricks where you will inevitably bump your fingers against the yo-yo accidentally (just make sure you get one of the matte ring versions for this).
I will say that the outer edge of the rims does feel a tad sharp sometimes. It’s also only 45mm so it won’t be quite as forgiving for learning big zoning tricks compared to tech. But 45mm is still a pretty good amount of width. And it’s $20 cheaper than the Outlier+.
Idk I’m mixed on it, I tried the outlier 3 first and it’s a much more fun throw imo. The thing about the plus is that it’s pretty slow so u can’t go really fast. And depending on your hand size (mine Is really small) I struggle to do chopsticks on it.
That being said it is pretty hard to go back to the outlier 3 since with how wide it is it’s pretty nice to catch. I found myself struggling a lot more to do simple tricks haha. If I recall correctly he’s trying to fix the sluggishness with the outlier 5 but I haven’t seen reviews on it yet.
Overall tho it’s my main throw and pretty nice, saw someone else talking about it being sharp and I couldn’t disagree more, I have a mercy 5 and that is SHARP, so the plus to me feels super soft in comparison haha. Either way it’s a solid throw, but not for going for speed
Budget is like $90, any other bimetals you would recommend?
Yyfr papercut.
Yoyofriends is super underrated
Honestly one of the best in my opinion. They just keep pushing out solid throw after solid throw. And their quality is really good.
Not necessarily, if your a beginner you would want a yoyo that can take a beating and you wouldn’t want to knock the rime out of place on your fancy $100+ yoyo.
I’ve had one for about six months now. I like it because it’s cool and I really like Brandon, but it’s not my favorite. My HyperX is a better yoyo for me. I’m still pretty much a novice and it just seems the more narrow HyperX is easier to master new tricks on.
I like the Outlier+ better than the Cheatcode (plastic and metal). I also have a Windrunner that works better for learning and an Uppercut and a Torque which weirdly enough even though they aren’t vastly different than the Windrunner I actually find throw worse for me than the Outlier+.
Final opinion, even though it’s not my number 1, I like it enough that I’ll be buying an Outlier 5 when YYE stocks them.
If you’re truly looking for a ridiculously long spinning yoyo for learning new tricks with, then I recommend the Schwimmpanzer by Yozean. It’s 80g and super rim weighted, so it’s very intense, but the heavier weight and dramatic weight distribution help the yoyo spin forever. The heft of the yoyo also forces you to move with intention which can be great when learning new tricks. Maybe not the best yoyo for smoothing out and refining things, but there are very very few yoyos that can outclass it in terms of pure spin time. Also only 40$ bc they are manufacture in house and that helps keep the price down.
The rims aren’t blasted which would help with accidental bumps, but the fact that it is so heavy and rim weighted helps balance that like the yoyo is very very determined to keep spinning straight and doesn’t really care that much.
I also disagree that bimetals aren’t great for beginners bc they can rim shift. Imo if someone is a beginner they should be using relatively short string to help with control, like belly button height. If someone is hitting the floor, then the string is too long or the technique needs adjusting. I use a pair of schwimmys for 3a so ring shifts are inevitable and they have been very easy to pop back into place fwiw.
personally i am a fan of the outlier+, but i agree its quite heavy and slow. outlier 5 might solve this but idk, if you are looking for a yoyo that helps you learn tricks without worrying about sleep time then i would reccomend.
So… I have a question for you guys….
I don’t have either one(Outlier+ or Outlier 5.
The + is 50mm wide. The 5 is 55mm wide.
The general consensus seems to suggest the + is heavy and slow.
….But besides the 5 being 5mm Wider, it, like the + share the ‘same weight’(66grams).
Over the last few decades, I have certainly noticed that often ‘shape/diameter/width, can really give a varied perceived weight value. Some people will try a yo-yo and say, wow, this feels light. And some will toss the yo-yo around and say, I really like that but l love heavier yo-yos more.
….Based on what some seem to feel, the 5 may ‘NOT’ feel as heavy as the +?
So… even though they share the same weight and the same diameter, the extra width of the 5 may give a lighter/faster feel?
I’m a little confused. What’s the question?
