The Ti-Vayder Experience

Agreed. I love the grey Vayder, it looks amazing. Though this is my first Ti and I partially regret not getting the more traditional raw.

It’s not too late to buy two, except we are down to around ~5 raws left in stock!

It’s very tempting. I have some extra expenses coming up; mom’s birthday, MN state fair… If one is still available when I can swing it (tacky pun intended) I’ll definitely grab one.

I agree, the grey looks so nice. The whole time this project was developing I was planning on grabbing grey. For some odd reason, I purchased a black when the time came. I do like the black alot, but all the pictures of the greys leave with a little bit of regret.

The black looks awesome. They all do. It makes being 100% satisfied with the one you pick difficult. Spoiled for choice. It’s a good problem to have.

As I recall, @zslane owns all 3 colors and was going to provide “color” commentary on that?

I see what you did there

I have a TiWalker behind the BYC table if anyone wants to try one/compare to the TiVayder!

Nice! I’ll swing by today to try it!

Finally got around to torching my Vayder yesterday. The first side turned out dang near perfectly for what I wanted (the dark blue side). The second side I did and I just went a bit too long on the heat and ended up with a bit more bland and light blue color. Though I will say my 3 number engraving actually ended up having each of the numbers a different color - so that’s kinda the saving grace for that side.

Aw nice @dylan_kowalski I had no idea this was the first titanium you owned! That is kinda the purpose of the Vayder project, to put a classic Ti in the hands of a lot more players. Awesome review man!! Loving the 5a sounds

(Also the raw is the more matte of the available finishes but I wanted to give you Vayder black for ultimate dark side style)

I made a comment on Dylan’s video review that he should invent a 5a trick called Ring the Bell in which the counterweight intentionally strikes the (titanium) yoyo. It sounded pretty bada** when they hit by accident while he was playing, I think it could sound even better if done on purpose (and with control).

Haha, Dylan is awesome

You know he was genuinely excited during this shoot.

That’s what I like about Dylan. He’s excited about everything! :dog:

So @zslane I think you might be the only person on the planet (that I know of, other than me and Heath) who has all three Vayder colors. I keep asking you … so I’m gonna ask again… want to comment on the color comparison?

Okay, sure.

  • The raw has a lovely off-silver hue, which looks really classy to me. If I were to put it next to, say, my raw Boa the difference would be striking.
  • The gray is even more refined and classy looking than the raw. It is perfect in just about any lighting environment; bright enough to be easily seen in dimmer lighting (like my apt at night) but not so bright that it blinds you in broad daylight.
  • The black is great because black titaniums are virtually unheard of, as far as I can tell, and that makes this one really stand out.

The finishes on all of them scream luxury to me.

Just got my B grade Grey Vayder (major shout out to codinghorror) just got lucky to see it on the BST as soon as it got posted. My B Grade was for an extremely tiny machine mark near the nipple on one side, and it has no vibe. It is grey, and has no engraving.

Play: I have been yoyoing since 1996 (middle school.) I haven’t tried everything, but I have tried a lot. This is the best yoyo I have ever used. It is the combination of performance and fun that makes it work for me. It’s like someone took the performance of a General yo Amplitude, and the comfort/fun of a 3rd run Peak and put it in a nice titanium package.

Value: It’s a b grade for a machine mark and has no vibe for $70. If this was $140, it would still be a steal, I venture to say it probably cost more than $70 to make this.

Final thoughts: It can handle way more than I can throw at it. It is the best value in yoyo (even at full price.) Codinghorror has promised to never do this again, we need to get him to change his mind even if it’s 10 years from now (assuming there is another legendary throw worthy.)

Questions for the other owners: Has anyone played around with different bearings, string, and response on the vayder and found their perfect set up? Please share.
