The Ti-Vayder Experience

Why am I not surprised?

Yeah this thing is awesome. Love it

Aw nice, cheers :beers:

And thanks for the comparison @zslane! One additional thing: grind-iness / friction of each finish?

I put a G2 slotted bearing in mine! I love it

I dunno. I’ve never performed a grind. But I would imagine that the slicker surface of the gray and black Vayders would make them harder to grind than a good bead- or diamond-blast finish, or even the raw Vayder.

@dylan_kowalski owes my wife’s ears an apology.

Add one more to the all three colors club

Raw is still my favorite (because titanium is sexy on its own)

I’ve had all three, with the gray one given to my lab person. The raw is, well, raw. Not as polished looking as the gray. I polished it up to torch it and it took on a new look fully polished. The gray gleams the most to my eye. It’s the looker of the bunch. The black has this cool non monotone look to the color. Instead of being absolutely solid black, it’s slightly lighter at the edges, which for some reason has the effect of a Darth Vader helmet.

Ok I’ve finally had some time to get set up and finished the first of four tonight. Warming up with a pattern I’ve done before on some One Drop Sovereigns a long time ago. Colors came out nice.

This one was a straight raw. Will probably polish the next ones.

Duuuude using electricity is so much cooler than my torch job lol. Can’t wait to see the others!

Wrapped in a polishing cloth, cinched in a bag, closed in a plastic container…is this…excessive?

Blue/silver acid wash on the second TiVayder. The blue came out nice and deep. Was originally trying to go for more of a lightning look, but decided to smooth it out as I went. Also a better picture of the first one for comparison.

Funny I expected nothing less than brilliance when I saw you had some of these to do. I was correct, brilliant. That blue silver acid is beautiful.

You’re way too kind LJ! Thank you.

Here’s number 3. Fun fact for the old timers on this forum. SpottedBanana, who some of you may remember back when I was anodizing aluminum did this one. Eight years ago ago she was just my girlfriend, now we’re married. <3

It’s always hard to photograph titanium, but this one is extra shiny and has really nice blue to gold transitions.

So LEGENDARY

Got up bright and early to finish the last TiVayder and am really happy with the way it came out. It’s probably my personal favorite of the bunch. I was tempted to push it a little further and put the rings on a dark purple background but decided to stop; sometimes the best designs are simpler ones.

… And here’s a shot of all four side by side. I have one more raw for myself that I will do one day when I’m inspired.

This thread brought me back into the YYE community… thanks everyone for the kind words over the years!

Those all turned out amazing Jason.

And so happy to hear about you and Spottedbanana!

Edit- @jasonwongzero did these all have the same finish to begin with? The one on the far left has a soft “brushed” look to it.

He mentioned that after doing the first one on the left that he might polish the others, which it looks like he did.

These all look amazing jason! Nice work

I actually only polished the last rainbow stripe one. That first one I was still recalling how to anodize and left it in the acid etch a bit longer than the others which does change the finish to more of a satin.
