Here’s how I define shapes. When I look at the catch zone of a yoyo, what does it look like? If it looks like the letter “h,” than I call it an H-shape. Examples would be the Super G and Genesis. If you look at the catch zone of a V-shape the area above the bearing will appear to form a “v.” Another common shape is what I call the Protostar shape. You can see it on the Protostar, Classic, and many, many more.
I was looking in the same area at first. But, now I notice people are looking elsewhere. Tell me how you’d describe that Evilyo…I was thinking H at first. So what would you say the Evilyo is? Just above the bearing they all have a wall that kind of forms an H. That is why I was confused.
^ That certainly seems to be the case, which further explains my confusion with defining shapes. Not so much defining them, but applying the definitions to what I see. That last throw was a Trinity.
I’d call the Evil-Yo more of an “H” shape. The thing is, there are many yoyos out there that simply don’t fit into the realm of “h” or “v” shape. You can’t force all yoyos into one of those categories.
So do you agree with the others…that there is a U category too? Perhaps it fits better in there. I’m so happy you saw an H though, cause it means I’m not totally crazy. Well…not in this way anyway.
Take a crack at that green yo-yo…curious what you see there.
We were discussing the letter U earlier in the thread. We were thinking that Evilyo definitely resembles a letter U, and the YYJ Theory too. I was thinking H too for the last one. That last one was a Punchline Repeater (on my BST…shameless plug). Okay, on to another one.
I see the above as an H shape. As for the Exit 8 you showed earlier, that is definitely a bell shape, or maybe what I’d call a “gull” (as in seagull) shape, because the profile looks like those little birds we all drew as children.
