The perfect knife for yoyoers

So this may have already been discussed, but I have noticed a lot of tools out there for the yoyoist. There’s certainly the MonkeyfingeR rhino, and YYF has a tool, but I was looking for something that traditionally lives in the general pocket knife category. Here is my humble offering. Case knives makes a knife specifically designed for bird hunters. It is appropriately called the “Bird Hunter”. It includes the typical knife blade as well as a hook for doing stuff to the bird that need not be mentioned in this forum. That hook is perfect for untangling strings. It is narrow enough to fit inside a fixed axle yoyo, and is perfect for grabbing the string. A photo can be found at

Does anyone have any other candidates?

The problem with that is that there is no chance that knife is getting through security at like an airport or something.

I got it

True about security you could just get something like a paper clip bent into a hook and keep it in your wallet.

For me the trusty tool to have is a pair of needle nose pliers very useful for grabbing those semi knots in the axle.

I just carry a round a double edge microtech scarab, D/A of course.

I want to get a rhino tool. I have a Swiss Army knife I keep on my desk for this stuff, but I don’t carry it around.

I keep a paperclip on my wallet.
Usually it is enough.

Gerber Curve. Goes on my keychain (which is always with me) along with a C3 Bearing Remover (not as odd-shaped as the YYF multitool).

The knife cuts string. The thinnest flathead screwdriver is fine-pointed enough to pick knots. It has a bottle opener.

Haven’t felt the need for anything else!

I have a Swiss Army Knife - I use the blade, scissors, toothpick and tweezers for yoyo related stuff regularly.

I live in the UK. Even being caught carrying around a Rhino tool would probably be enough to get me a few years in prison. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yeah? I didn’t know that! We can’t have knives of a certain size or construction either, but something utility like a Swiss Army Knife is not a problem. The Gerber is even smaller than a Swiss Army Knife.

Well, technically the law is as shown below:

Is a yoyo technically a Kusari? :stuck_out_tongue:

But it’s not really like that in practice. I bolded the part that really matters, because it pretty much boils down to the reason you have it. If any police officer doesn’t like your explanation for carrying it (or just doesn’t like you), you’re off down the local nick. Unlike the USA, saying “for self defense” is not a valid reason… in fact it’s probably a guaranteed jail sentance. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a tiny little Gerber myself, but it just doesn’t seem worth it to me to carry it around. Don’t want to run the risk of coming across a bobby having a bad day and find myself being escorted off in the back of a paddy-wagon.

Looks like I’ll have to stick to just unscrewing my yoyos to take out knots. ;D

wait push daggers are illegal? wait… no. it folds. I love how manufacturers find a way around this stuff lol.
