Used to be very into yo-yoing about ten years or so years ago, but as I grew up I slowly (/sadly) lost interest. Since lockdown I have been spending lots of time decluttering and stumbled upon my old collection. Recently picked yo-yoing back up a bit and thought you might enjoy some pics of what I still own (ended up selling half of what I owned in 2010-2011, but couldn’t quite part with these guys).
Since most of these need maintenance I am planning to order some new bearings etc. and thought I would ask for any recommendations on a fun new throw to add to my order (~$80 or less)?
Very open to recommendations, I do not remember so many options being available!
One Drop Original Project / Death By Yoyo (forgot model name) / Milk 2%
Wooly Marmot / Peak (not sure which run) / Wolverine
Bunch of modded FHs
Thanks!
Ps. Hope i’m posting in the right spot, haven’t been active on any of these forums in a loooooong time.
Ohhhh these are all so good! Jake Bullock is coming out with a slim dunk soon, an homage to the freehand and renegade and it looks super fun!

Hey I remember you!
Long time no see! I feel like I might have sold you one of those FHZs at one point actually haha. Cool to see old faces pop up again

Beautiful stuff. I have a very similar story to you, loved to throw back in 07/08 and then switched schools, losing all my throwing friends in the process. Picked it up again a couple months ago as a way to de-stress during quarantine and have been loving it since!
The first thing I bought when I got back into it was a Kuntosh 5000qv and I can’t recommend it highly enough. One drop has come a long way since the silver soda-blasted Project. The Kuntosh was originally designed by Anti-Yo and then released by One Drop. The 5000qv is a slight re-imagining, that is made out of 7075 aluminum, which allows for thinner walls in places that wouldn’t be possible in 6061 (What yo-yos are traditionally made from). It also uses the side-effect system (sort of an evolution of the removable axle nuts in the Project), allowing for customizable weight distribution. I’ve picked up a lot of yo-yos since then (including an original Kuntosh) but the QV really stands out.
One thing I would suggest if you pick up a new One Drop is to also grab some sort of concave/centering bearing. OD still uses flat bearings which is pretty uncommon these days. I’m not going to say flat is better or worse since that’s a bit of a source of controversy but it’s worth trying both ways to see what you like. Mine currently has a platinum Yoyorecreation DS bearing in it.
I’m basically in the same boat as you! I was Big into to yo-yos about 12 yrs ago and This whole lock down forced Me to sell some old throws… agh…well, while going through my old stuff, I started Throwing again! I still Have some old G string! Ahah.
I still have a peak and an OG project! I’m searching for another peak at the moment.
But wow! I dont Even know where to begin with these new yo-yos.
