Okay so when you pay for the yeti how much are you going to be paying? $45 for the yoyo and then $15 for shipping for a grand total of $60 for a Yeti. So yes the shipping is a part of the price. Everyone knows how I feel about their prices. I wonāt get into that but I need said I hated CLYW throws. They play great but I donāt like the prices which is why I donāt buy them.
They stated that the first batch of Yetis will be sold direct to help with the investing costs of making the mold and whatnot.
The second batch should hit YYE.
EDIT: Wrong info of mine, according to their website: āFirst release on August 9th at Worlds at the **** booth and online at YoYoExpert at midnight!ā
You can set any price the market will bear. Iām not likely to get a Yeti because it just hasnāt grabbed my interest (yet). Letās not derail the official thread or anything, but suffice it to say that if it sells out at $45 + shipping, he probably set the right price.
Same thing as the Classic, huh? Iād like to hear your reasoning behind that.
Iāll start you off by saying the plastic is NOT the same. Is the Classics material full of glass? No. Is the Classic mold itself of the intricacy the Yeti mold is? No.
CLYW made a yoyo that plays on par with metal yoyos, with no help from weight rings or denser material on the rims. This is an accomplishment, and Iām STOKED to get one.
The yeti isnāt much more intricate than any other injection molded plastic. It has a relatively simple shape and nothing that makes it stand out from other plastics. I bet it plays great but itās overpriced for what it is, a simple injection molded plastic yoyo.
The rally has metal weight rings, metal hub, a machined body, and looks alot better than the yeti. Thatās the reason for no hate on it. It has reason to be prices how it is, unlike te full plastic yeti.
Iām not trying to argue at all with anyone Iām just stating my opinion on the whole matter. If this is being sold direct anyone who would pay $60 shipped for it should see what theyāre really getting and checking out the other yoyos that are similar.
You literally ignored one of Mikerās points. The plastic costs more than your regular injection-molding plastic. If you have an opinion, or should I say, personal grudge, donāt whine about CLYW, then get all frazzled when people (rightfully) defend it.
Do we know what the name of this so called plastic they use is called? Where do you see me getting āfrazzledā? I just said Iām stating it how I see it and my points are valid. How much more do you really think this special plastic costs from any other plastic. I have no grudge against CLYW which you people all seem to think. I own a couple of their throws and they are good but I donāt agree with their pricing.
The outer profile is simple, inner profile is something you wonāt find on any other molded plastic. Unconventional material, unconventional moldā¦ compared to the tried and true (except of course when they fail) standard of just throwing bits of metal on there to make weight. Same price.
Do we know the name of the plastic they used is called? Speak English much? And, reallyā¦ āso calledā? Are you claiming theyāre lying?
You say theyāre using a special plastic with glass right? If they are do we know what the name of this plastic is? I could care less whether your anal about everything being in proper grammar. Your arguing for them that they use a special plastic and all you can say is that Iām calling them liars (which i never said). So machining metal rims and hub and putting the molded plastic into a CNC the catch zone donāt cost more than pouring plastic in a mold?
Btw what is so unconventional about the mold and inner profile? It has a rim and a hubā¦ WOW thatās crazy, Iāve never seen that on a yoyo before. Your points arenāt really making sense.
Yoyo(honestly I believe most)molds have almost always been of uniform thickness. Hence weight rings or denser rim material. However, there is a real rim on this yoyo, functional weight with no extra crap to come loose. Metal yoyo design in a plastic yoyo. Get it now?
Would knowing the name of the plastic do anything for you? Would you go out and do some extensive research on it? Or would you Google it, then Google poly-carb and come back telling us the price difference of yoyos that cost the same? In fact, I think Chris said himself that later runs will be cheaper. Hmmā¦ same price as the Rally now, wonder what youāll have to say when itās less.
