I think a misalignment between what you value in yoyoing and what the judging system rewards is a pretty normal thing.
Slacks that donāt involve the yoyo arenāt clicked so Janos despite having ridiculous elements loses out on his trick setups when he does this. Miri Kim was amazing as a performance but loses out on things like the bounces in between tricks which, while look amazing might not really count as a trick depending on the judge and take up time in a FS.
If someone can get me a closeup photo of Ayumuās new throw that he is using, Iāll give you a $15 YYE gift card
Iām blowed that Paul Kerbel didnāt make the cut. I really loved his freestyle.
Thanks for the offer man, really appreciate it. Iām only really interested in the xt, but Iād really like to see the Flying Squirrel boxed set if you can get a pic?
Hey guys, for those of you watching the contest at home, I made this handy little chart so that you can follow along and keep track of all the throwers that are using the Arctic Circle 2
Youāre welcome!
Itās nice that you posted it already filled! Great job
Lol
Oh definitely, thats why I prefaced what I said with stating that I know next to nothing about the current judging system. Tricks > clicks all the way for me! Not trying to take anything away from anyone else because looking at the scores they were all pretty close, but I am a little bummed that the performances that really blew me away (and the crowd from what I could tell) didnt do as well with scoring as I thought.
Iori is still in it, baby!
I feel as though charging for a stream as opposed to putting it on youtube (and generating ad revenue) also limits the viewership from people who are new to yoyoing or are interested in starting. If this were on a platform like youtube, it would show up under ārecommendedā for some people or even under the ātrending sectionā which would help promote and grow the hobby. Many will likely disagree with my opinion on this (and you are entitled to do so), but in my mind a charge makes certain aspects of the community appear more closed off and focuses heavily on short term gains rather than long term exposure/growth.
You would get quickly removed for having copyrighted songs being played nearly every other freestyle
@Astralis Technically speaking they arenāt supposed to be using those songs without paying for the rights to them anyway.
After that finals performance, I donāt think so
Thatās true. They definitely could expand thw hobby by doing that. I would love to watch themā¦but Iām not going to pay 5$ to watch a stream hehe
US nats had a free stream, although it was Vimeo. If I paid for this one, Iād feel obligated to watch as much as i can, but Iām choosing to watch the YT vids if the performance later. Iād love to see it in real time, but Iāve been busy this week and canāt justify paying for the stream. It should be a free stream. One of the many sponsors should cover it imho.
Gentry mightāve just won it
That was clean. I just tuned in tho. I guess it was just good timing cuz Gentry literally just started his freestyle
He has such good performance skills
That was great. Iām not sure who I liked more between Nate and Gentry. Super happy I got off work in time to watch 1A finals.
Nate went super clean too, and I think the crowd was more hype for him than for Gentry
