Not a dumb question. I’ll tag @Yodaddyo He is the godfather of steez and would be able to give a more in depth answer

When your tricks look extra stylish and not janky. I think it’s slang from skateboarding?

Glad you’re having some success w DoN stall and imma add my approach bc I don’t think anyone touched on this yet. For DoN stall, I wrap the yoyo around and when it gets back out to nth side, I lift my hands up a bit to kill the momentum and then let gravity cause the return like a fly away return almost. You can also do something similar by not adding as much momentum for the wrapping around the hands. The important part is that I’m not trying to tug or anything like that just chilling and letting the yoyo return on its own (or that’s what it feels like). Then I just cushion the landing a bit but yah…maybe this kind of approach will help it click more w you. Have fun playing yo

Steez = style, its 90’s hip-hop slang, lots of artists used it in their lyrics.

Pretty sure steez started as a portmanteau of style and ease. In other words, effortlessly stylish.

I honestly have no idea where I picked it up and I certainly had no idea about this, but it makes so much sense! It seems so obvious now!

Thanks for clarifying that for us!

Steez=life! :rofl:

No such thing as a dumb question. I’ve been trying to figure out what a jawn is for 3 years and still have no idea  dont feel bad!

I honestly started saying Steez before I really knew what it meant. I’m very relieved to find out I’ve been using it correctly, according to all these excellent explanations

Playing around with the rims on the Quark by @AudreySickburn Still not sure where to go with this, but it feels like there’s some cool tricks in it

That was super cool!

Thanks, couldn’t have done it without your help. Keep it weird!

Really cool. Reminds me of the Nate Sutter trick “hammock” where the yo-yo is lying on its side on two segments of string. I’m not sure i have any “square” enough throws to do what you’re doing. Love it.

Thanks, I love Sutter’s style. A proper pocketwatch has to have the crotch catch!

If you need square yoyos I’ve got some you can have

Oh that Triforce yo-yo is novel and cool!

If only it played good as it looks, the updated Russell at the back plays great. With the Triforce the difference in wall height between the corner and halfway along the edge is crazy.

Having chucked these around I think a hexagon might be the most extreme playable shape

Have you made @AudreySickburn’s Tomato Soup yo-yo? It’s pretty fun!

Yeah I feel like Tomato soup, my octagon plays really well. Grilled cheese, my square plays almost as good but can be a little tricky.

I have tried making a triangle yoyo a lot of times actually but so far none of them have played good enough to release.

Haven’t tried that one yet. These were printed by Antman and I swapped for some wood.

I’ve made some wooden squares that can balance on my elbows and shoulders, but not an octagon.

Something like this is what I was going to try next for a triangle. I was thinking something sensible, but if @AudreySickburn makes a yoyo with teeth and a spirograph hole response I’m sure people will line up

The rounded triangle is more sensible. My triangle obsession is a pizza slice with pepperoni pullstart dimples so I’m dead set on a normal triangle so I keep experimenting with various gap shapes and geometry to compensate for the shape.

But… teeth could be fun. :tooth::tooth::tooth::tooth::tooth:
