@Ardeus You might try making the core solid all the way through to prevent this particular failure.

Have you considered making a bearing 0A 3d print?

@TryCatchThrow I might try that and see if it doesn’t change the feel and performance too much.:+1:

@kretzschmar I’ve been meaning to for a while now, but haven’t found the time and energy to do so.
Hopefully soon!

Duncan Butterfly is a great starter if you’re not set on wood.

If you are, the Legend Wing is entry level.

If you have your heart set on Fallen44 (which I would understand; it’s a vibe) I would post an LF on the Buy / Sell / Trade board here. Fallen44 hasn’t been making throws for a few years.

If you’re looking for other makers, check out Dazzling Dave’s Heirloom collection on his site, or Ed at Davison Lathecraft.

Ooh, they’re finally back in stock! I’ve been wanting to add one to every YYE order I’ve made for the past several months, but they’ve been out.

Yo, jumped into this style of play, got these 2 in today from Ed Davidson. A No-Jive, and his custom 121 Pistachio. They feel great, look great, as for the PLAY, y’all, I’m beyond terrible!

THIS IS SO HARD!

I don’t understand how some of you are so good at this. I’m so used to long spinning modern play, I can’t get a grip!

My issues are:

-I can LAND trapeze stall no problem, but i have NO spin power getting out to tug back to my hand

I guess really that’s it. Spin Power, but I realize I need a different kind of spin since it’s not modern unresponsive - just enough to get a ‘FEEL NICE’ return to the old hand.

Maybe I need to bring my hands closer together so there’s more string in the gap for these stalls but in general it’s so strange. I love the challenge!

Any tips?
*Edit- I been throwing a plasm the last few days hoping it would get me acquainted but the snappy responsiveness and tight binds are another ballgame I’ve realized

For 0A, @Yodaddyo helped me immensely on my journey. I have been doing 0A for 6 months. I tagged him, and In sure he will see it and give you some tips. These are the ones I remember that helped me the most, a long with some of my own.

  1. Use a shorter string than what you are used to. It might feel awkward, but once the awkward feelings goes away, and with some practice, it’ll help you progress much quicker.

  2. Stop trying to throw hard spinners like on unresponsive. Slow down, and in time, once you have been doing it a while, that state of being slowed down will be where you want to go, in my opinion, as it helps me land things easier. When I don’t slow down, it’s like I am trying too hard and I overthink it.

  3. Watch tutorials. Then watch them some more. Trapeze stall to brother stall and back to trapeze stall was really good practice once I could do it.

  4. Kickflips were invented in hell. Don’t torture yourself in the beggining.

  5. On wood throws like those, I use cotton string. If the tug response is slippy, I put some chapstick on the end of the string and string it back up.

  6. Most of these videos you watch, the person did a ton of attempts before they landed it. You are seeing the one they landed. It’s not like unresponsive. It’s the joy of that one time out of 20 that you land it. Over time it’s 1 time out of 10. And so on and so forth. I doubt the pros are hitting it every single time. So don’t beat yourself up, enjoy the wins.

  7. Grab a Duncan Butterfly, one from the new mold (Glow, Unknown, Purple.) It’s a really really good 0A yoyo. Since it doesn’t have a wood axle, I recommend poly, my preference is Alphaline, but whatever works for you.

  8. Not to sound cliche, but this is a niche, and so some of us are practically family. Welcome to the family, we are hear to help, so ask away. Share the wins. Share the struggles.

Hope this helps

Each throw / stall exit only really needs enough power to hit the next stall, only enough to return when you intend to catch it. Getting a useful amount of power from a Double or Nothing Stall exit is a hassle and good practice for everything easier

#6 is a REAL wake up call to me, never thought about 0A like this

All great points again thanks
