Thanks Onedrop

Since I decided to restart the Yo-Yo Museum project, One Drop have been the most supportive of any manufacturer going out of their way to provide us with a full company history, photographing every single product from the beginning (thanks Paul!) and providing us with one of almost every new product in the line since then along with multiple extra products for giveaways etc. In fact, we currently have a Terrarian and Vanguard to give away as soon as we reach 1000 followers on Instagram (so go follow us now!) http://www.instagram.com/yoyo_museum

In contrast, other manufacturers who shall remain nameless wouldn’t even provide us with a company history, never mind photos or products.

One Drop have gone above and beyond for us, and it’s truly appreciated. They are an amazing group of guys and deserve every ounce of praise they get.

I mean, they DID bring the Kuntosh to life, so that was pretty nice.

AARON! You’re back!

But, yeah, the Kuntosh looks great!

Thanks for the kind words everyone  Means a lot.

I’m going to bump this question because I’m interested in the answer as well. My current favorite throws are the Shutter and the TOO HOT so I kind of like very stable low walled yoyos with a thumb grind lip.

What OD yoyos would you suggest for Antonizick and me?

For those criteria I’d pick the Gradient - low walled, extremely stable and you can thumb grind the inner lip.

It doesn’t just look great. It plays great. :stuck_out_tongue:

since this thread seems to be getting some attention from OneDrop experts, if I have no idea what I want in a yoyo other than a good yoyo to learn on (I know how to bind and some intermediate tricks, but not made it as far down the trick list as I plan on getting using a Replay Pro) and trying to go under $50 (amazing what having twins does to your budget) would you recommend the Gauntlet or the Vanguard and why

I just got a Vanguard yesterday. It is really great! I don’t have a Gauntlet, but after playing the Vanguard I’d like to get one now!

I don’t think you could go wrong with either, take a look at the specs and the shapes and see which appeals to you the most.

Also, get one quick before One Drop realized that they under priced these and prices go up ;D

I’m certainly no One Drop expert, but I have a Gauntlet and Vanguard. I got the Vanguard first and instantly fell in love with it. The Gauntlet really grew on me, especially after I cleaned and lubed its bearing. It was quiet initially, then got very loud quickly. Problem solved now.

These are very different throws, but I think I’d recommend the Gauntlet. It looks big but plays stable and somewhat floaty. These two YoYos are almost exactly the same diameter, but the Vanguard is a lot narrower. That, plus looking at their shapes, should tell you a little something about their respective weight distributions, relative to the bearing. The Gauntlet is probably the better all around throw for someone learning intermediate tricks, which is where I am currently. I’m a big fan of H shape YoYos and really enjoy the Vanguard, but if I could only own one, it would probably be the Gauntlet.

The latter seems a little more forgiving if I have a bad throw or mess up part way through a trick. Either way, I think you’ll be happy with your choice. One Drop is cranking out one great YoYo after the other these days, so it’s hard to go wrong.

Ditto with the TopDeck. It’s a least $50 under-priced.
