Sportshooting

I have won the club-championship 2024 in 300m rifle and was awarded a trophy last night, togheter with two bottles of wine, a crisp 10 Francs bill and a voucher for 100 cartridges of ammunition. :star_struck:

Needless to say: I am very happy about that

Nice shooting! Do you have any Swiss medals? I’m going to (want to) shoot for one this year. The problem is that the Swiss Athletic Society here is very small. The next club I know that shoots sanctioned Swiss rifle match is 5 hours by car.

The last formal match I attended was a GSSF (Glock Shooting Sports Foundation) match in 2018
life gets in the way of things. I won 4 categories and my haul of prizes was 3 guns and a plaque! That was a pretty awesome. I can’t find the paperwork that has the census but if I recall correctly there was approximately 450 shooters. I used a G26, G19, G21 and a G34.

I’m trying to get back into shooting matches. Life leaves little time for me to do that nowdays. I shot a match yesterday and in a few weeks there is a local range hosting a GSSF outdoor match. Its like 500 people+ at these GSSF matches. They also do them at Anniston with the CMP. Thats like 3k+ people!!!
I’ll add more photos later.

I have many fire arms. I will keep my fire arms, not because of any unrealistic expectation of the government coming and taking them because, they will not. That tooth paste can not be put back in the tube, logistics, expense, inability to conceivably collect and destroy that many guns and creating a serious illegal market that will foster more violence.

I will keep them because throughout my life every time I have gone to the range I have listened to a consistent line from a group of people who want to inform anyone who would listen, why they are carrying a gun. They are now just waiting for permission to act, or the stress of life becoming too much and committing a very serious act of stress on a community they choose for what ever reason they feel justified because of what ever reason.

I go to the range keep quite listen work on my skills.

Noice!

Amazing! Congratulations. I guess prices in The US are a little bigger, than small town switzerland. On the subject of swiss medals: I only have a silver medal from a junior match with the Stgw90. But what I have more of are “KrĂ€nze”, which are also like medals, that you get if you reach a certain point-level. So many shooters can reach such a “Kranz” in the same match.

The competition here is strong, which is great. But that also means, that if you even loose a single point in a match, you are not gonna get a price, even in local matches. If there even is one in the first place.

Interesting. But could you make a more concrete statement to what you are actually saying? I may be lost in translation

GSG-5, right?

A range-queen, I guess? :slightly_smiling_face:

The Concussion from shooting those indoors!!!

Shoot at the target. See a big hole. Watch the paper wave in the wind.

Hells yea man! You know exactly whats up. That thing rules, funnest gun ever! When I first got it all my buddies snickered and goffed at it cause its ridiculous. Then they shot it and are hooked always ask if I’m going to bring it. Of course its not cool enough for them to buy one. They think $3k on a Gucci’d out Glock is better money spent. To each their own haaha.

What do you mean when you say competition is strong there and dropping a point doesn’t mean winning? Thats not just where you’re at, thats competition in general. Yoyo comp, baseball, basketball, shooting, etc, if you’re down means no winning.

Sorry for reacting so late.

I think you misunderstood.

In a SSV, CISM or ISSF 300m match you have a fixed maximum score. So you never “Win” a point you only loose less points, than your competitors, to win the match.

And so it’s a very tight field, if the Top 3 or Top 10 are decided by only one signle point.

If you keep in mind that most of these people use modified Stgw 57s, a rifle, which most likely holds 2-3 MOA at 300m (even with a match barrel) and they still hit 10 Shots, in a row, into the 10cm wide, 10 ring, then that’s even more astounding.

This is a picture of a friend behind his modified Stgw 57, a Stgw 57-03. The “-03” indicates the modiefied status. These guns are very popular, even though their ergonomics and triggers are complete rubbish. But people make them work beautifully.

Ohhhhh dang thats cool how its scored there. Very different indeed. So I didn’t misunderstand I just didn’t know the scoring system there. The stuff here and IPSC is you have to gain points rather than prevent loss of points. There’s other games where the penalty is dealt by adding time to your score and/or scoring less. Very interesting. Again different cultures. Win by maintining score/preventing loss vs gain points and avoid being punished (adding negative time/points)
 Dang man.

Shot the indoor GSSF match over the weekend. Dropped three rounds at 25yds ended up scoring 490/500. I want to be in that 500 club! Used a G21. Won a sweet gray Glock field knife! Those knives are awesome. Now I need to buy an AUG to put it on! Haaaaaha
