So many yoyos anxiety on which to mainly use

I have around 8 yoyos and im constantly have anxiety on which one to mainly use. I have over compulsive disorder the ritualistic version so its hard for me to stick to one. I want to just use one for a few months and actually get to know it. Does anyone else get anxiety on which yoyo to mainly use.

That happen to me too, except when I’m packing. My yo-yo case has only 8 slots. I’m always so sad for the yo-yos that didn’t make the cut.

I feel ya there! I just wanna use one and get the total feel for it and know it in and out but i see my others and constantly rotating lol

Use a random number generator and pick whatever it selects! Put your faith in rngesus!

I do this sometimes on my collection.

I put out several of my yoyos at any given time and spend 15 minutes with each one. After a few days, I change some of them out so I have a different selection to choose from at any given moment. I figure that I’m training myself to not become too familiar with one particular yoyo and therefore not dependent on its specific feel in play in order to successfully execute tricks. I want my skills to be yoyo-independent, so to speak.

assign each one a number. and find a dice with the same number. Roll said dice. Throw said throw.

Right. You have to be careful if using two six sided dice, or multiples of dice in general… it produces a weird distribution.

Or just ask siri to pick a number bewteen 1 and “x”

A bell curve distribution isn’t weird. It’s just mathy.

Weird in the sense of “very unequal chances of picking all the elements”, which is the intent of “pick one for me at random”.

Well, it follows naturally from summing the results of multiple dice rather than just rolling one die. Still not sure what is weird about it. :man_shrugging:

It’s not a test, don’t worry about it. Maybe try letting your trick goals be your guide, when I am trying to learn a new trick, I try it on different types of yo-yos and see which one feels the best.

Thats why #todaysthrow exists. Play a different one each day.

This is how i go about it. My favorite tactic is to start by getting real confident with something using a forgiving throw like my Edge. Then i convince myself im worthless after using my Icarus. Then repeat in that fashion.

I understand where you are coming from but I think if I had the same problem then yoyo is something I would probably avoid. I guess my biggest problem is time but I know I will get around to each yoyo and get to know it properly in good time, especially as my skill level evolves

Hey hey hey, different throw every day

Yoyos don’t get jealous. Just pick whatever one you feel like throwing at that moment.

I practice what I call yoyo-ADD (that’s just what I call it; I’ve never been diagnosed with any sort of attention deficit). I pick one that catches my eye and throw it until I think I want to throw a different one. This may be anywhere from 5 to 25 throws, often closer to the low end. Then I switch to another. I choose based on whatever one makes me happy to think about throwing, one that helped me learn a particular trick, or one that just catches my eye in the case. I continue this pattern until I want to do something else.

Yoyoing is designed be fun, not stressful. I’m with Sinister_Yoyos on this: go with whatever makes you happy. If you need to find a particular system because you’re highly organized, I would suggest trying different patterns or ideas until you find a pattern of yoyoing with which you feel satisfied, but don’t let it stress you out. In the grand scheme of things, it is still a toy made only to make you smile.

I used to have weird hangups about this. I still tend to overthink packing for trips, making sure the items I pack have the broadest possible level of usefulness.

Honestly, it’s weird to say but getting sponsored and having some signature yo-yo’s was kind of a path through this for me. I’d have brands or models which I WANTED to throw, but which I’d also agreed to throw, so it cut down the options, and it gradually made me more comfortable with “whatever”. So now I really don’t have any anxiety in grabbing this or that yoyo, just like I’ll put on this or that T shirt and not give it a second thought.

OCD/anxiety is not a “rational” situation, so reason may not alleviate that feeling. Picking a yo-yo shouldn’t be a stressor, but you never know what weird things will be. If it were easy to keep it in perspective it wouldn’t be anxiety.
