With how far the 5a-like styles have come along, is anyone interested in putting a one-way bearing in a yoyo / designing a yoyo / spacers to fit a needle bearing? The closest to size c is 1/4 x 7/16 x 1/2.
I just think this would be a much easier way to learn all the diabolo tricks that you can’t do on a yoyo in a small space. I’m not too familiar with counterweights or one-way bearings though.
Also you could maybe do this for competition yoyos (what are the rules?) to make soloham more viable, as long as you can get it to be thrown / bound at least once.
I’m not familiar with one way bearings, but generating spin on a diabolo is super different than a yoyo. I think a yoyo with a one way bearing is unresponsive one way you wind the yoyo, a fixed axle the other way. Sounds… interesting.
Edit: I guess one way bearings are similar to bicycle wheels that can free spin backwards, and lock when the pedals are pedaling forward. So, I’m not sure3 how that would work on a yoyo, if my statement of it being a fixed axle one way would be true. Has someone tried to yoyo with a diabolo? Do they have a response system? I don’t know diabolos well at all.

It doesn’t have to be throwable, in fact most one-way bearings are too wide for that anyways. It can be used like a diabolo (spun on the string, not by throw), just smaller
