Could you turn them into bearing posts for hubstacks?
The purple is a Project Two with two spikes made by me, working at the lathe of the “blind nuts.”
The purpose has nothing to do with the weight, but with the amplitude reduction of the cone and therefore with the reduction of the contact surface (therefore friction) between spikes and fingers, this translates into a significant increase of the performance of spikes.
With that kind of side effect there is not enough material to be able to get a seat for housing the bearings, however I can guarantee that when you have functional spikes, the hubstacks are totally useless (it is proof their fast and limited success).
