Glen, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Your yoyos are good. You do very nice work. Hopefully more people will be able to experience it first hand.

Looking nice.

Do you have a favorite wood to make yoyos with, or, does your wood choice depend on the feel you want a particular yoyo to have?

My favourite wood is either white oak or maple.

Not very exciting I’m afraid, but they yield consistent results; are easy to source; not too expensive; have decent toughness; produce yoyos that aren’t too heavy; nice to work with and I like the look and feel of them.

My perception is both white oak and maple are classic wood yoyo materials. I think you just described the reasons they are classic materials

That is veeeeeeery nice!

I made a maple Knack tonight. It was rejected as a wood to be used for the Knack, but it sure does produce a super smooth yoyo! It’s really nice.

I always love seeing the pictures of all of your yoyos. I love the way the grain of the wood is so different from yoyo to yoyo. But, that tea tree one in particular - that’s a beauty.

The grain of the wood looks like a vortex in the center! Is that the sort of thing you plan out when you begin working with a piece of wood? I mean, can you tell by looking at a piece of raw wood that it might wind up looking like that when turned? Or is it something that just sorta happens by chance?

I can tell what that will look like like to a degree, but it can sometimes be surprising.

Turned the first and most likely the only tiger oak KNack.

Phenomenal. That grain pattern is cool.

Wanted to make a yoyo with a blood cell shape. It has great pullstart functionality and a very ergonomic/organic shape.

Made a maple blood cell. So smooth. I also tried putting the engraving in the gap of the yoyo rather than the face to preserve the super clean look.

See in the photo of the face there are three heads? One smiling, one yawning and one singing? Lol!
