Show some wooden yoyos you've made

That is awesome the entire yo-yo works as a magnet with the magnet closure lol. I’d definitely keep one on my fridge!

Posting these yoyos to a very, very good and well known player.

What yoyos could they be?

Who are they being sent to?

What does all this mean??

Things. It means things.

An undersized gidgee bearing responsive/unresponsive for @Myk_Myk. I’d really only make a bearing wooden yoyo for him.

I’m so excited for this one!!!

The fixed Burly, is probably the most fun yoyo I’ve ever thrown.

Wow; what a beautiful throw. The undercut on the cup is really cool!

Making a run for YYE. I was hoping to complete the first stage of all the halves, but we had emergency bushfire alerts which halted production for the day.

It has a nice minimalistic look to it. Nice work.

Now that I sent my run of yoyos off to YYE, I can focus on other ideas.

For a while, I’ve wanted to make a yoyo with high walls, a thin gap and no response holes drilled. One of my favourite fixed axle yoyo, the A/RT Orphan is like this. The combination of these three things give a powerful, almost elastic feel on the return and regenerations. It’s because the string wind covers a larger area of the inner walls, giving more wood/string interaction on the wind and unwind.

This is a yoyo I made that utilises these concepts. I chose a gap width of 1.75mm and measured how much area the string covers wound up with this gap. I made the inner wall exactly as large as this. I gave it a 1/4" walnut axle so that it felt as powerful as possible.

I wanted to emulate the feel of the Orphan, but I also made the yoyo wider so that backhand catches are easier.

The feel of this yoyo is wonderful and has that powerful, smooth, elastic qualitu that the Orphan has. I love it.

Hello folks!
It’s been a LOOONG time!
curently spinning a lot of tops , and I still yo-yo too!
Saw this post passing by, and today I found a worn out wooden yo-yo
It’s an fixed axle, never played with it before. .now is maybe the time?
I decided to paint it, yin yang style!
Looks better in real -life. …

This looks so good. The idea of a wider, Orphan-inspired yoyo sounds sick. Orphan had some serious spin power behind it, if only it wasn’t so frustratingly narrow.

I’ll call this one the Urchin.

I’ll make some for YYE sometime this year as long as the run I just sent is received well (which I’m really nervous about).
