Looks like flat cap side effects
New prototype. Higher walls and added a bunch of hollow triangles to try out lighter weight. Matte black feels more premium somehow and looks nice with the yellow.
What’s that bad boy weigh in at?
58.8 grams. Still a bit heavier than most modern wooden throws, but feels VERY light. I guess it’s the material and somewhat hollow body. So far my favorite one with this profile had just a few hollow triangles and weighed 67 grams. Sounds crazy heavy, but just feels right.
I love a throw that punishes my hand. 70g Harbinger I have is one of my favorites!
I’m just curious to know if there is a particular reason for choosing the triangular shape void for reducing weight.
It has todo on how 3D printers work. Everything smaller then 45 degree is no overhang and will not cause any dripping of the plastic.
Cool. I’m enjoying all the posts regarding the 3D printed throws and accessories.
Like @Kray said. It’s the easiest shape to print. Printed with the triangles pointing up.
Right. I was thinking it had either a handlebar mustache or horns.

Tangent: any suggestions for (preferably free) design software? My neighbor got a 3d printer and I want to try making a custom soap dish. Yes, I do dream big, thanks.
I use fusion 360. They have a free version. @MarkD uses FreeCAD in his tutorials.
What are the custom guts like? Just allows the gap to be slightly wider? Looks amazing btw!
Yeah, just a 4.6mm gap instead of 4.25mm. It’s makes a huge difference for the better.
That is looking really nice, bet it plays just as good

@Kray or @TheThrowingGnome any percuations I should take when sanding down 3D printed plastics? Was going to wet sand with a fine grit, need to mellow out a sharp edge on a rim, Im guessing it was the flat face that was on the platter.
