The first time it was used was on a special run of the Peak (I believe the first run after the painted ones) where part of the proceeds went to charity. It’s named after Stephanie Nolen’s book “28: Stories of AIDS in Africa”. If you look at the cover you can see where the inspiration came from:

The original colorway was much more matte/pastel and a lighter blue.
This new Akita is a more metallic and darker indigo.
Both beautiful !
i need to run my finger across the rim of all of these collections to feel the grain and catch that sweet ringing sound 
The crazy variations of the blues reds on the 28s has always bugged me

The original 28S Peak was done by Pioneer and many still consider this the best version. Gruntbull then took on CLYW anodisation and his 28S has more solid, bold colour compared to the almost watercolour appearance of Pioneer’s. Pioneer used cheaper dye and that’s why it has that appearance.
