Shooting Star vs AOE wobble

Hi all! I’m very new to Yoyoing but have a question regarding throwing clean non-wobbly throws. I have both a Shooting Star and an AOE and I’ve noticed my throws on the AOE seem to be more stable. Is this because the AOE is a heavier wider yoyo? Or is it purely because my throwing technique is off? I prefer the Shooting Star overall so I’d love to get stronger cleaner throws on that yoyo if possible. Thanks in advance!

The Shooting Star is definitely capable of “clean non-wobbly throws”, and your choice of yoyo can absolutely affect how easy it is to get there. I haven’t used an AoE, but the shape and weight distribution could be jiving a little better with your natural throw motion. If you like the Shooting Star better, practice more with it and those smoother throws should happen with some time invested.

I’m bringing the Brandon Vu breakaway video!!

If you haven’t seen this yet it was a huge help for me when I was starting unresponsive.

This was life changing for my throwing technique when I first saw it.

Bascially….once you learn that the power comes from basically an aerial pullstart in stead of throwing it to the ground.

I really wish they wouldn’t’ teach to do the muscle breakaway. It wasn’t fun relearning how to do a proper breakaway with already having a habit of the wrong way. I never realized til Connor Scholten said to me “Why are you looking out the window when you throw your breakaway?” Then I realized how goofy it does look.

Yeah….it’s actually a very poor way of teaching it.

So how should we teach it as an alternative?
