Good afternoon folks! Have a question for the 5a throwers here, what are your favourite throws to use for 5a? I’m not asking for what people think the GOAT is and or trying to put down anyone’s favorite throws, there’s no wrong answers, I’m just curious what people find joy in throwing for the style!
I wanted to expand my collection and cycle of 5a throws I’m using, Currently my favourite have been:
Motion Centripetal and Synaptic
C3 Stellar IX
Been eying down the Wilderness Pc and 7075, but also just want to see what people are using!
I’ll check it out! The plastic materials get a lot more sturdy as the prices go up to, I’ve really enjoyed how sturdy my Stellar IX is! Polycarbonate is fantastic, add some rims and it feels fantastic
They make the Ample in both PC and POM. I’d love to compare them side by side, but I imagine I would like POM better because of the higher density and lower friction coefficient. Too bad they don’t make teflon throws anymore.
I’ve also been enjoying the POM Ample. I’m tossing up between that and the Immersive POM. They both perform great, but I think the Immersive is slightly better. Its more maneuverable but feels just as stable.
A slightly trivial issue I have with these yoyos though is that I don’t like how bigger yoyos look on camera for 5a. But objectively speaking they are way easier to catch and are very useful for learning tricks
Oh I’ve actually handled that one and it’s excellent.
As for my current ones I use the most.
C3: Stellar IX and Ballom. And I used to use Galaxy Diver V2 7075 a lot.
YoyoEmpire Skillfinger. Excellent purpose built 5a throw. Really loving the D bearing for short string 5a.

And I recently started using a Mk1 Penumbra which rocks for it…but might be a little on the light side…or perhaps it just needs grippier pads.
