man I loved orange ones, any chance there are still some available somewhere ? (the old ones that is)
ditto
YYE is out of them, but ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā .com still has some
I recently bought the starter set and the yoyo I got looks more like this One compared to the old One.
So I got my 2012 ONE todayā¦ good news/bad newsā¦
Good: I think the shape is great, feels good (not so slick feeling, like the original) - all around great tweaks. Itās different, from both the original and even the Whip, enough you could have given it a whole new nameā¦
Bad: maybe it was just mine - BUT - I went to pop the caps off to replace the cardboard circles (more on that below) and getting the cap to go back in was a huge pain! The clear cap got all sorts of tweaked. My original One could pop in and out easily. This doesnāt really have anything to do with the actual yo yo, but it is a bummerā¦
What I found with the original One is you can pop those caps and replace the inserts - for the fun of it I put a picture of my sonās face in it - printing it out and using a 1.5" paper punch (wife is a scrapbooker) - I picked up a new blue one with intentions of putting some Chicago Cubs logos in itā¦ I also got a white one for my daughter, and was going to let her personalize it - but now Iām a but more apprehensive- I almost broke the caps on the blue one (you can see plastic stress marks in the clear plastic for the cap).
I realize that itās not marketed as a āmodingā feature, so it really isnāt a flaw - but I wish they hadnāt messed with that partā¦ Ben, do you know if it should have been easier? Or was it designed to be that much tighter?
designed to fit tight.
If they are loose they rattle and this is something many people perceive as a flaw so we designed against it.

I figured as much - personally, I think itās too tight (never had a rattle problem with 2011 model) - if you would ever need to swap out the axle, you risk breaking (or putting a crease/stress in) the plastic the cap when putting it back on.
I realize itās only a $10 throw, just my thoughts on itā¦ other than the cap issue, its a great little throw.
