Recommendations for a nice Bimetal yo-yo for a 5 year old

Our little 5 year old friend can now do an unresponsive DNA and other simple string tricks like the double or nothing and brain twister. I want to get her a bi-metal yo-yo for Christmas but it can’t be too expensive as she still drops her yo-yo. She is playing with a Magic yo-yo H01 now and has an underside mini metal yoyo from YoYoFactory and a sage. I was thinking a Speedholic FX as it spins long and finger spins well but the aluminum rim is too fragile. We have one and it’s got vibe now. Monos are stronger but dosen’t really spin as long Bimetal. She is still learning tricks and needs a moment to think about the steps. I am thinking something a little wide but not too wide as she has tiny 5 year old hands. The DNA yoyo and the DNA king etc is just too much $ for a mono and it’s kind of gimmicky. A good performing yoyo that is comfortable but not organic will be good.
Any advise will be helpful. Thank you experienced throwers.

The hypocrisy+ from aceyo is a nice undersized bimetal at $50 but won’t spin quite as long as a full size bimetal. The magicyoyo z01 is also fine for a bimetal at $30

I think a bimetal would be a bit much for just beginners. If you really want something durable get the evolve. It’s 55$ mono and its 7075 aluminum. I constantly ding and bang it and it still plays fine and is so smooth. I also spins incredibly long and is pretty stable. Theres also a purple color which she will most prob love

check out the mk1 spyglass

Thanks for the suggestion. Spyglass looks too organic and very narrow. I think it should be around 46-49mm wide. Moonlight has a comfortable shape that’s not so organic but again it’s too expensive and might not take well if dropped. We have one.

ah gotcha. also in the mk1 camp you can find exia in both ss rims and brass on bst pretty regularly for between $30 and $50. also check out a yonami code from rain city skills. its wide, easy to learn on, a little on the lighter side, and it has lego hubs! you can put finger spin caps and light up hubs on them which are both sold through rcs as well as any small round lego piece with a single hole

Yunami code is a good yo-yo. It’s slightly not so big but not undersized. I really like the size of Magicyoyo V12 for kids. It’s a good value. Nice slightly smaller but wide yo-yo at 48mm and a finger spin cup. But it’s not bi metal. The Evolve spin way more powerful than the v12 but it a bit chunky for little kids. I might have to look into some Chinese brands like yo-yo empire and Yozean or something. Can’t think of other bi metal yo-yo in that size and price range.

Have you looked at the YYF Hummingbird?

Hey dude, I could sell ya a YYF Switchblade on the cheap if you’d like! Pretty much new still

Magicyoyo has some well priced bimetals. You coukd also look for something smaller, like the Duncan Yoshicuda.

5 year old? I would get them a magic YoYo’s or something in the super budget realm. Heck yozean are pretty cheap too

If you get something with inner rings it’ll be a lil more durable since the rings cant be shifted when it hits the ground

check the yotricks civility. great performing bimetal thats also great for fingerspins (the only fingerspin bimetal that is readily available i think unless im blanking on some other yoyo). Not super small on dimensions tho so thats a downside.

Come on forum yoyo companies, step up!

Seconding this. If you’re going to get her a bimetal at this stage the durability of an inner ring will help save grief later when it’s dinged compared to an outer ring design, even if there are fewer options.
