That’s nice but why?
Nor is it written that a question cannot be asked about an opinion
Geezer didn’t insinuate that all opinions had to be justified - he simply asked a reasonable question about the opinion, which is perfectly…reasonable. Justification wasn’t demanded, a simple question was asked.
I don’t know where you are in Jersey but I would recommend finding a local yo-yo club and see if you can try some out. All the yoyo clubs I have been to have been exceptionally open and inviting to new players. There are clubs in New York City. Also you could make the trek from Jersey to Northhampton, Massachusetts to visit the yo-yo club there. PM me and I will give you the name of the store it is in. Also you could contact YYE about visiting their offices in Easthampton, Mass. I don’t know if they still have customers coming in for visits but if they do you may be able to try them there.
It’s between the rally and the yeti for sure. The yeti isn’t readily available, so your answer is clear.
Source: I own a rally, and have had a fair amount of play time with a yeti.
This is still a difficult decision… I really appreciate the help so far.
hmmm does anyone know how to make a voting poll on a thread?
Just trust me here. Get a clear rally. Just do it.
Buying a rally is so tempting. Like it looks like it has everything going for it.
But I also feel like due to the scarcity of yeti’s and lack of colored yeti’s. the yeti is unable to speak for itself to stand up against the rally. Its like for every 10-20 rally’s there is one yeti. so obviously there are gonna be more people saying go for the rally over the yeti.
Dude just go with the rally. You won’t regret it. At all. Just go for it. Plus IMO it looks WAY better than the yeti.
I do agree that it looks amazing.
Do you play fast or slow?
MMM both! haha depends if Im playing seriously or just relaxing while throwing. But my place style most closely matches that of Ernest Kahn’s.
well get a rally for fast and a yeti for slow.
sooooo I have finally Decided!!!
Im getting none of those…
and getting a shutter hahahaha
Good choice. Enjoy.
mmmm or maybe not. I have a luis enrique genesis and Im in love. I dont think it needs replacing… Just a new bearing.
But then again Christmas is an option.
Man I am indecisive…
I throw different things depending on what mood I’m in. I prefer the price, appearance (graphics, color options) and shape on the Protostar. The Rally has a nice surface, and if you are into grinds that much, and prefer something with more weight than the Protostar…that could be the one. I have thrown a Yeti, but I have not played it to an extent where I can weigh it against the others.
I am curious though, because you are a fan of YoyoFactory. Have you considered other options before narrowing down to those three? The all metal Shutter has lots of color variety, as well as two finish options for only $45. Maybe you have one already or don’t want a metal. Also, instead of the Protostar, have you considered a YYF Shaqlerstar in the same price range? I just want to be sure you knew of those options. I prefer the Shaqlerstar to the Protostar. I prefer the Shutter to the Rally. The YYF Delrin Severe is in the same price range, for something different.
Good luck choosing one. If you can, try several.
If I were you I would flip a quarter. They are both SOO good.
I agree completely with what you’re saying. I have considered other throws like the Shaqlerstar and the Severe. I was drawn to the ProtoStar from the reputation is gained from John Ando bringing it to contests and showing it off over his superstar. But Im pretty sure Im going to stick with my Luis Enrique Genesis. Its the best playing yoyo I have ever owned. Plus I have a OneStar if I feel like playing around with YYF plastics. But if my parents dont object to a shutter as a christmas present then I wont say no to a shutter hahahah
Value is relative to the observer … by definition.
