I agree with your impression of the Yelets. I liked it when I first threw it, because despite the specs, it plays heavier than expected. But, there is something that turned me off from the Yelets that I cannot pinpoint. I want to say the width, but the Cafe Racer is about the same, and I enjoy that one. Cafe Racer almost got skipped due to the weight. It surprised me though. Strange thing is that the Yelets plays heavier, so I expected to enjoy that more than the Cafe Racer. It might be a shape thing. That throw is a mystery for me…but good example.

And…no problem Gambit, it’s nice to know how these throws play, even if they don’t have all the elements, just some of them. If you hadn’t posted, I would not know much about the Krown, so it was very helpful.

I totally agree with the width/shape thing. I love the Yelets and enjoy it most of the time, but sometimes I want to use something wider and more normal. I guess it really is made for pockets lol ;D

You know… you are abolutely right. I own one, but it is a YoyoExpert edition in my collector case, so I don’t throw it. But, when I first got it in the mail from another collector, I threw it once just to see what it was like. I remember thinking it was a very nice yo-yo, stable, and nice spin, but a bit too light for my taste. I didn’t check it for speed and whip it around a lot, just wanted to give it one throw real quick. I should revisit that one, for sure.

The funny thing is, some of these 63 gram throws feel light, and some not so much. The Drop Bear had nice qualities but definitely felt light. I will also revisit the X3 Aware when I get home. That is another light throw. I usually buy light throws as collectors, not to play them, so I rarely fully get to know them. I don’t remember what I thought of the X3’s stability, spin and speed. I remember I thought it was cool for someone who likes light yo-yos.

I hope for a Tenyoyo x OneDrop Dropbear SE. Then you could change out the SE and get it to the exact weight and feel, but to be honest, my Dropbears feel pretty much right just the way they are.

Got my Draupnir the other day and I think it absolutely personifies this thread. I’m having serious trouble believing that it’s 63.5g, it just plays so much heavier. If someone told me it was 63.5g, I wouldn’t believe them, it’s only because I’ve seen it in writing on the YYR site that I have to… and even then I’m suspicious…

There’s really no point in my repeating all the good that has already been said about the Draupnir, it really is as good as people say it is. Spins like Sonic the Hedgehog and as stable as a russian tightrope walker, which is amazing considering it’s actual weight. Plays nice and fast, and obviously sensational for horizontal because of its shape, but that kinda goes without saying.

The only SLIGHT issue I have with it are the IRPads. Since I use a thick string, I’ve found that they’re a tad grippy for my liking, but it isn’t the worst thing in the world, especially with a throw this good.

Yoyorecreation; once again knocking one clean out of the park. Although I’m thinking of buying a pair of precise scales, because I’m still not sure I believe that claimed weight. =P

Thanks MLYYM. I probably confused myself too, because I want to open my mind to the lighter stuff, but not quite all of it just yet. When learning tricks, I find that some tricks are easier to learn with a heavier throw, and others with a lighter throw. Shape, width everything plays a part, but also, it’s nice to have a variety because learning never gets old. Sometimes just picking up a different yo-yo can encourage me to play longer, because it feels different. But, I’d hate to lose that stability and spin no matter what I’m throwing. While I’m learning, I sometimes rotate through five or six different yo-yos. Once I get confident with the trick, I can land it on all of them equally well.

I agree 100%, I pretty much throw my entire collection every couple of days. It’s amazing how different a trick can feel on a different throw.

However, like Totalartist, I am a stability addict, so no matter what I’m throwing, I like it to be stable.

My walkabout throw isn’t, however. It’s a Supernova lite that leaves a bit to be desired in the spin/stability department, but it serves the purpose of making sure I’m throwing clean and precise. Still like it when I can get home and grab a better throw though

Thanks guys, I have to add these throws to my list. I’m very interested in that Draupnir now. I saw on Instagram, that a new run will be released next month. That might be the right time to bust a move.
