True story. Almost feels like I never smoked to begin with. Except I keep finding lighters everywhere. Found one in a bathroom drawer. I never smoked in this apartment. I wonder how it got there.
Everything smells like victory! I had no idea how much I was missing out on in the smell And taste department. I’m finding out that some foods I liked, aren’t all that tasty while others explode with flavor.
What I thought was funny is that when I quit, I started noticing bad smells more often. When you smoke for over a decade you just take smell for granted to the point that you don’t notice it or use it at all. Everything just smells nuetral.
…NOT the case. Bad smells are everywhere and they’re so much more noticeable than pleasant ones.
I’m not complaining, it’s just not something you would think of. You’re all psyched to get your senses back only to sometimes regret them.
Let’s talk about this bad smell thing in relationship to smoker’s smellers. I recently took a trip with my brother to see some family in the southwest. My father only had one guest bed which my brother, the favored son, got. I was relegated to sleep in my nephew’s Airstream camper out in the country. Both my nephew and his wife have foolishly taken up the habit of smoking and the Airstream is the lair they go to to light up. I stepped into that camper and nearly tossed my Snickers & Dew. The smell of that Airstream was so awful it made you gag, but they couldn’t smell it much. And I had to sleep in there! The next day I begged my Dad to find space for me at his house, somewhere, somehow. I couldn’t stand to spend another night in that nasty stench of the smoking cave. The smell literally made me sick to my stomach.
My point is that my nephew and his wife were completely oblivious to the offense, not even aware there was any problem. Smokers be advised, your friends may leave your place holding their nose and determining to make it a long time before their foot crosses your threshold again.
Waylon, a HUGE congratulations for making it through an entire month without a cigarette. We are all really proud of you. (And your lovely girlfriend too!)
I know that feeling. I was doing a 3-day tour a few years ago and when I checked into the hotel for the last 2 nights, the room smelled full of smoke. I could NOT stay there, but there were no other rooms available. I slept in my truck and just went in to shower and change clothes those two nights.
Thanks for you help, everyone! I don’t think I could have done it without you guys being here. Someone on here once said that they didn’t think this was a REAL community on here. It’s moments like this that prove them wrong.
