I don’t have a count and I couldn’t really pick a “one”. I like the variation.
I have groups stashed around the house and pick up whichever catches my eye when I want to throw in a particular room.
Sometimes a trick or element or whoever created it will suggest a specific yo-yo or type.
i have “a lot” of yo-yos (maybe around 350ish?) and there are def some i gravitate to for a combination of play, nostalgia, aesthetic or tactile sensation, etc.
no jive is always top of the list. it’s just the well i go back to. like coming home. out of ~100 no jives there are 3-4 i play the most by far. nothing specific sets them apart - just a connection.
other fixed axle, i often come back to my eH throws or the newer fixies friends have sent me. the ardeus stuff lately, as well as the gnomad and caveman go are standouts which i really enjoy.
in terms of plastic, i love the feel of the pleak and reach for that a lot, but a nice well-modded fhz is always a joy to throw.
metal, i tend to do the same things with most unresponsives, so i tend to base play more on my connections with the people. i still throw a lot of spyy because i have so many positive associations with that time. flying v and ronin, but also the spyder 2 and addiction and (especially lately) the tyy-01. anti-yo was SO COOL to me when kiya and sonny were doing it, and i will always love throwing the ywet, bape, or the RSO end. similarly the kuntosh is way up there, which leads me to onedrop. david and i live very parallel lives and i’m lucky to call him a friend. i really dig the fat tire, free solo, and cascade, and i throw those a lot.
kind of an “embarrassment of riches” in terms of yo-yos and i’m lucky to have been around long enough to accumulate both a bunch of throws and some positive interactions which make me that much happier to throw em.
