I am having great problems with hooks
the string always wraps around itself, it never forms an area where the yoyo can go through
getting rid of string tensions never work, other slacks are fine

Do you mean with all hooks, like hidemassa hook? With that one, your throw hand should be moving slightly towards you during the hook, and this opens the loop that will catch the yoyo.
If you perfectly whip the string in line with the gap it will be like a laceration, where the loop of string will wrap around the yoyo without opening up in the front to back direction.
@beezy It was difficult for me to understand what you’re saying here and I know the trick lol
It is pretty hard to explain in words though I will say.
@OP Try tying a string around a doorknob and figure out how the whipping motion is supposed to work. Or tape the yoyo to the wall. That’s how I learned it lol
