Practice paradox

so it seems the more i practice the smoother i get. the smoother i get the faster i get. result is, the more i practice the less time it takes me to get through every trick i know and i gotta learn more tricks just to feel like i know more than a handful of tricks. i have to stand there and think about whether I’m forgetting about tricks i know :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Come do the trick a week stuff! This week’s doesn’t seem too hard but I can’t figure it out (again lol)

But last week’s switchbacks i am making progress on and it’s really cool

Maybe you can have a goal at the end of a practice session (if you do that way) to string together a “routine” of the tricks you know? Like a run through of set list when my band practices. Or well… when we used to lol

I feel this. I swear that for every two tricks I learn, I forget one.

It is normal to forget trick as you replace them with better ones, practicing a lot as you said make you improve quickly so you abandon “the old” for the new. I barely remember my combos, I put on instagram a combo every week, if I look back at some of my old I have no idea how I made it, obviously I can relearn but I can’t be bothered, is all part of the process to leave what is “old” behind for the new improved stuff, all the basics combo in the ladder I forgot all of them, I can learn them again but I do not see the point of that. Keep going mate, you are improving and this is good, let it go the old and embrace the new!

i do pop in and out there. even though i don’t fully get most yet, there’s always elements i pick up

When it’s all said and done, don’t you think it’s the elements we remember best rather than the specific order? I haven’t learned anything new for ages, but still remember basic moves. I used to like learning the “move,” then figuring out how to fit it in with others.

dunno lol I’m still brand new so I’ve only fairly recently learned enough yocabulary (@GTDropKnot word :call_me_hand:) to really start putting things together or modifying tricks/elements to fit in combos. the more i read about how other ppl play through a session I’m getting that impression though
