Plastic whip help

I know this is a trick I should have learned by now, but I just can’t. I can’t even get is close. When I try to whip the string around the yoyo it just whips around and just falls down into a sleeper. and sometimes turns into a laceration bind. Help!

Are you doing a normal “front throw?” Can’t do it from a breakaway (well, you can, it’s just backwards). Pull up as the yoyo starts to hit the bottom of the fold.

Yes, I am doing a front throw.
I will try that, Thanks!

Disclaimer: I’m recommending a video without rewatching it first (I normally would).

I found this tutorial by Dylan Kowalski helpful. He recommend practicing the whip with a dead yo-yo IIRC.

lol just popped this on for a sec and want to say he has such good tutorials because he makes everything sound so easy! It’s encouraging. Like even if it’s something really hard, it makes it easier to think of it as easier I don’t know. good rec.

Another tip: try to lead the slack with the front tips of your fingers and make a nice arc motion

That motion really helps the strings to not be a tangled mess
