I cant do a laceration bind please help

Every time I try the string just loops under the yoyo and I can’t get it to bind. Any tips for someone learning or any videos/references anyone can recommend would be really appreciated.

make sure you land the yoyo close to your hand and do a nice slow whip, don’t try to go too fast

Did you see the YoYo Tricks video, search “Learn Three One Handed Lacerations Binds”

Ill try and slow it down its so hard i feel like i have no control of the string lol

If youre doing it off a front throw you just whip the string under the yoyo like youre gonna go for a 1.0 hook.

also the recess vid in trick a week this week goes over it

When I learned it i found that it helped to pinch the string at the base near your hand for some reason I think it just gives you more controll over the string. Hope that helps in some way

I just watched that. Put on .25 speed and replayed min 136 over and over and did the same hand motioned and it started attaching to the yoyo finally and catching. Then I actually landed it. I was shocked :joy: then i was able to do it again. Thanks so much!

Do what laceration binds?

I could maybe help you learn how to do the 1.0 hook if you wanted?

yeah please

I just started trying a bit more seriously to learn some of these (wanting to do them ever since I got back into throwing). My problem is getting knots 110% of the time. I think I’m whipping the string a bit too directly into the gap, causing it to wrap multiple times.

This is usually fine and shouldn’t cause knots. Usually ill get a knot if it wraps outside the yoyo like hits the gap but the loop of string goesaround and too far away from the gap and i know from experience as soon as that happens like i can feel it/ see it and be like ahhh shoot i messed up better safety throw and make sure I get that knot out. Should go away with practice and if youre getting nothing but gap, thats good. Kinda one of those things that will resolve naturally vs needing a ton of focus.

Other than making sure you’re whipping from the right direction (whip from below in front style and over the top of the yoyo from a breakaway), you want to get that whip motion right. Start off slow to open up the string then whip that bad boy at the last second, just before the string hits the gap.

They don’t call them whip tricks for nothing.

Here’s a useful tutorial

Sorry it took me so long to get back things happened IRL.

When I saw this post the first thing I was going to mention is learning 1.0 hook seemed to help me learn ghost bind. Now that you got ghost bind I bet you can get the 1.0. Congrats!
