Im bumping this so hopefully i have someone to send it to once I’m done! I just picked it up from my po box yesterday, and im really enjoying it, and if i didnt already know, wouldn’t be able to tell you it’s seen some use. Will update after my time is up too!
Just dropped the envelope off! Really enjoyed my time with this string, couldn’t tell it was previously used. I dont think ive been as consistent with negative or 1.5+ hooks with any other string, the weight of it makes it carry really well. It played just as well on day 1 as on day 7.
Only downside i found with it was I found it prone to building torsion quickly, but ive found that to be true of pretty much all nylon based strings.
Looking forward to see how many people take this on!
After reading the above review, I decided to try and learn one handed hook and 1.5 hook, and learning was very easy compared to ot normal, yysl venom, and canopy rope. However, I’m not saying that “the one string” is better than those, it just whips much, much faster as to those other strings because it’s nylon. I don’t have as much experience with nylon/poly, but it’s very slippery in regards to the knot on the finger. I use the looper’s trick where you keep the 2 strings of the slipknot on the outside of your hand, and it works fine, but it never seems snug and I often try to tighten it to my hand. It works pretty well on responsives too, because of the thickness. The more I’ve played it, the better it’s felt, it almost feels like it still needs to be broken in as it held memory from how it was coiled in the envelope.
If this video isn’t able to be viewed, it’s my SA submission for the one handed hook. It’s two of the hooks back to back, the second one was a slow motion clip. My execution is a little clunky and I don’t feel smooth yet doing it, and it’s easy for the string to whip harder and faster because I’m used to doing the trick with polyester string.
Yoyos I’ve used it on:
PIF OD kamuraiju
OD Wizard
YYF confusion
Final verdict: I like it! If I ever aspire to learning 2.0 or 2.5 hooks or beyond, this is definitely the string to do it with. Only cons are something about it was hard for me to get used to doing my basic combos, probably just user error on my part. Other than that, I actually liked how it played with the yyf confustion the most. Stalls were very reliable and predictable, and the response was very reliable/predictable the 30-40 minutes I had it on the confusion. It was also easiest to manage the tension with a responsive by throwing some sidewinders and UFOs.
