I have recessed all of my yo’s except responsives, super happy with the level of response so far.
Did you notice that using the soapy water led to a longer cure time ? I had problems when I tried the red with water and I’m still not exactly sure why. Just curious thanks.
I actually tested it and played my peak 2 i siliconed about 12 hours after install.
It played tight on the binds but that went away after a bit of throwing so no I don’t think so, it’s also gotten hotter where I’m at (Portland) so that has helped too I think.
But the look I get with soap I really don’t think I’ll go back with practice I’m sure I’ll get a seemless silicone job and that’ll be very satisfying!
Guys do you know if there is any difference between those?
The quantity is the same but packaging and code is different, one is 82194 and the other 89145
Thanks a lot
Nah they the same for our purposes I think like the tech data the same. I asked this too at one point.
They have different part numbers for different packaging, those are the same stuff in 3 or 3.5oz
Testing a deep recessed deep state. Much more tolerable as an unresponsive so far, but sheesh is the shape unforgiving regardless.
Also wanted to resilicone this og Gnarwhal, has an old strange pad shape so this was a perfect candidate for the Ultra Gray. Totally brought this yoyo back to life, maybe even better than I ever remember. Plays dead unresponsive even with the bigger pad surface srea.
Finally I received the silicone after basically a month of wait, did this application on the Unprld - Su1 with a nice deep recess as I noticed I like it more recessed like that, I think this time came out pretty well!
Looks nice! Now just gotta scratch out the excess after it cures with a plastic pick or something. The peeling off part is also satisfying. One of my fav things about applying silicone myself haha.
My fav thing is when I manage to scratch out the silicone around the entire circumference and get it to come off in one long strand.
Dont tell anyone but I poured some flowable clear today, one of these even used to be ultra grey’d.
Havent tried flowable before and just wanted to test.
I like regular flowable a lot! It just tended to be a little too grabby for me so I went grey. I prefer it to pads for sure.
Ive been REALLY enjoying grey so far, but had the tube and wanted to try. These are recessed deeper than I do for grey as well lol.
My favorite part was removing the grey pads, they both just came out in one pull as a solid ring. Was incredibly satisfying lol
I used clear and red for a very long time, red never fully cured most of the time and was meh in terms of grip, but clear was really nice. fully cured it’s got good grip, and I didn’t even recess it and it was still perfectly unresponsive, but grippy when doing binds. good stuff.
I’d love to try ultra grey, but at the moment I bought like 100 response pads from another site so I don’t think i’ll be needing silicone for a while lol.
Blasphemy!
I did a non-recessed application on The End 2 and I was thinking about filling all the schmoove grooves with silicone just to see what it’s like, but ultimately decided against it.
Another time! Has anyone else done that before? Maybe with a different bearing or lubed up bearing for responsive? hmmm…
The YWET’s “schmoove” was originally intended to hold o-rings to make the yoyo more responsive. The End’s schmoove was always intended to reduce string friction to create a better unresponsive play experience though.
I guess you could fill it with silicone if you really wanted to, but using ultra grey (intended for lowest response possible from a DIY silicone) while adding an addition ring of silicone in the yoyo seems kinda counter intuitive.
So everyone, I think it’s also time to write how this silicone is going after some time, using as example my most used yoyo.
I silicone my Zgrt - QI at the beginning of May, I use this yoyo at least 2 hours a day every single day.
Can say that while the pads now are quite slippy I still like them (probably like them even more) and they still working fine, the binds are secure if you have the right technique also the various slack and whip binds, the string snag is only a far away bad memory and I use fat strings without issues.
I can see how is getting consumed (it kind of has the sign of the string on the pad) and I think soon it need replacement but let’s consider we are in July now and this yoyo as a big amount of daily play time, after some months it is still confirmed my favourite response system ever tried (even more than my old dear Motorsil D while I was in italy).
I think for more or less 120 hours of total play (if not many more) it has a great result, the pads are also very secure inside the slot, any of them popped out and the same is also in my other yoyos, I would really encourage everyone that hate string snag and want much more freedom of movement and string feed around the bearing to try it!
best thing about pads is that you can just top em off instead of having to take em out and scrape the bearing seat clean of residue!
Just putting this out there. Dowsil 730 makes for the hardest “flowable” response I have ever used. It is also the most expensive tube of silicone I have ever used. My brother hooked me up with a tube back when he was wrenching on planes.
Did up my Yuuksta with it over a decade ago and it is still just fine.
holy moly that indeed is expensive! I’m curious though.
