People who don't yoyo.

lol a kid got nervous to ask me why type of Yoyo to buy to! By the way can you link that video me want to see!

Hate to say it, but for someone with such a vast collection of expensive yoyos, she really isn’t all that great. Abby is better

uh I only have 3 yoyos and there around 20 dollars so uh I get what I can afford and if I need something new I save my money and buy it and those yoyos are my legacy 2 my stackless grind machine and my duncan speed beetle like I said i get what I can afford simple if you can afford the expensive stuff good for you but that don’t make you a better yoyoer

That’s true. I have a Dv888, DM2, and a loop 808 and I practice several hours a day and have yet to meet my yoyos limitations.

Same but I haven’t found a limitation with my yoyos yet

I will throw at work usually every day and it just vary’s person to person. Even if its not all that popular outside of the yoyo community i always catch people stopping what they are doing for a few moments and looking into my office watching me so whether they say something or not I know its still eye catching. I get all kinds of responses but usually people are pretty amazed at what the new yoyos are capable of because i think most people just think back to the smothers brothers days and have no clue yoyo’s are capable of so much more now.

Hell i didn’t even know yoyo’s were capable of so much until my friend made me watch a you tube video a couple years ago and now i can’t put the thing down.

Cool

I did a suicide and my grandma said it was a cats cradle

I find the only way to impress people is to do horizontals. Horizontal play completely turns their ideas around of what they think a yoyo can do.
As well as gyro-ing a yoyo in any fashion. People seem to like the sound and are perplexed on how such a trick can work.

lol.

Yoyo’d today in the waiting area of the community swimming pool. Dad and son both enjoyed the few tricks I could do (basic stuff like split the atom, Mach 5, Matrix; a few lacerations and a whip or two) and asked a bunch of questions. Son turns to dad and says “I want one of those for Christmas”.

Didn’t have a YYE business card (haha!) so I told them about the only local place to buy a decent string trick yoyo and made sure they at least sort of understood what to look for (not a Raider).

But other than that, a whole room full of people-- one staring adult, and a bunch of other adults and kids who were like, “meh”. I didn’t care. Had my two that enjoyed it, and I was enjoying it myself.

you know how i see it if you enjoyed it thats what counts

You can only reach those who have an interest. Those are the ones we want to reach so they can know where, who and how to reach out to get more information. Don’t worry about the rest.

Agree completley

Same if you have a good time that’s what counts

True. Why would you yoyo for other’s approval unless you are an entertainer? No sense.

seconded

Are we going by Roberts rules now?

I’m in middle school so a lot of kids touch my yoyo and my string to mess me up and I’m constantly asked “can I use it” I also find it annoying when I do an extremely hard trick and people say “cool,… Can you walk the dog” that’s why I carry a Duncan butterfly with me so I can do tricks that will scratch up the butterfly not my Trinity and also so people can use that one instead of my precious Trinity ( lol I sound so conceded )

Conceited.

But anyways, no, you’re right. You should carry a cheap and/or responsive yoyo for noobs to try out. I also don’t blame you for carrying something you don’t have to be concerned about to do such simple crowd pleaser tricks without having to damage something significantly more expensive.

Don’t expect people who aren’t on the “inside” to understand that yoyos can in fact cost more than $20. Heck, I’m sure many of us have bearings worth more than $20!

Good mindset. Be prepared!
