Oh Buoy! The Tyrant (I guess Tirant was taken?) arrived yesterday.
The scuffs are remarkably shallow & smooth, proving how tough this thing is.
This is my first D-bearing and essentially my first Ti. Based on the disparity between price and benefits in my experience with “premium” bimetals, I expected Ti to be overrated; I have to say, this is one impressive yoyo.
I haven’t thrown a lot lately, but I think this may qualify as my 3rd favorite yoyo. I really love the undercut on the rim: it makes it feel much lighter than one would guess from appearance (based on yoyos I’ve played with somewhat-similar shapes/sizes). At first, it feels true to it’s weight* at the end of the string; in motion, it feels deceptively light. It’s quick & very nimble (i.e. fast when it is moving and easy to get moving).
I’ve also been surprised by how powerful and long-spinning this thing is.
The shape is comfortable, and the rims + finish make for easy snap starts. It also regens well.
Since I’m toward the end of the list, I did try to spark it. I was a little disappointed to only get one spark to pop off in the dark. Perhaps I could’ve gotten it better if I had kept trying, but I didn’t want to tear it up too much.
The Buoy is also fun! No surprise there, since I like oversized yoyos. Has a light (would’ve guessed 7k Al), organic feel and really buttery anno. Fingerspins are basically impossible though; however, the Tyrant is actually more capable of them than I expected with the convex hub.
While I can’t see myself paying for a titanium yoyo, the craftsmanship on this one is exceptional (and I don’t feel that way about every yoyo, “premium” or not).

There’s another set of specs at the top of this thread, which don’t quite seem to fit based on nothing more than feel. Awesome throw regardless of which specs it is.

Trust the specs from that other thread. The specs i think you’re talking about at the top of this thread was me just going off memory. I think you’re talking about the weight, which i had guessed wrong when i made this thread.
Just put mine on the scale. 65g. (My stupid scale rounds to the nearest G)
Also. There’s only 3 Tyrants left in stock. Alot of them got sent to Japan where they basically sold out instantly. They love it in Japan and i think that’s the highest praise. But yeah, 3 left state side.

No worries! The weight was the only thing. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even pay that much attention to specs - a good yoyo comes down to design, and I’ve enjoyed them in various shapes and sizes across the spectrum (or even slightly disliked ones with specs I generally like).
If anyone’s thinking about a Ti, you should jump on this one - it’s phenomenal! (in my extremely limited experience with almost no other Tis 
).

Pay it Forward is on the move! I haven’t been throwing a lot lately, so I thought I’d pass it on to the next anxiously-awaiting thrower. I did get some good sessions in and enjoyed my time with it.

Ahh man. It just clicked for me. The two yoyos dance around each other than clash. Like an elegant sword battle… sword dancer… man what a cool trick. Even more so my favorite now with this new look on the name meaning. Thanks dude!

It is with a heavy heart that I type this, but my time with the Tyrant is nearly over. This yoyo is an absolute blast, and if I ever have the financial means I would totally cop this throw. Also, easily the best D bearing yoyo I have used so far… @reverend, shoot me a DM with your address and I’ll get this shipped out on Monday…
