I was thinking about buying a Whipple bearing by JD
I was just wondering who has has one and how it plays?
I should have an answer in a week or so. I’m planning an order on the 1st for some stuff at his store and I’m buying a 4-pack of these, among other items. I’m expecting string centering like a grooved bearing but without the groove.
I bought a 4 pack. I enjoy it, it’s a great bearing at a great price, and it is string centering too
Being that it is a V-groove instead of a U-groove track bearing,
does it bunch up string layers even more.
That’s actually one of my concerns. However, I don’t throw too many layers into the gap yet, so this may not be an issue for me, but I can test it.
they are nice bearings
Just got a 4-pack today, so I haven’t had that much time to really experiment with it, but from what I’ve seen, it plays great. My go-to bearing is a standard dif-e-yo konkave, and this bearing is pretty indistinguishable, but tons cheaper. So yeah, definitely a great value.
I really like mine. They play excellently. I don’t have that much of an issue with the string bunching up. I recommend them.
