This is exactly what everyone parrots when the the same observation is made on any forum. Do you have actual experience with this? Have you “played through” this and actually ended up with a better bearing?

I have tried this many times. It does not improve for me. It is time to put this myth to bed so that people can replace these rather than suffer with the compromised performance. A new, good bearing is like $7. A fabulous, never need to replace one; is $20.

Yes, this has been my experience with my Onedrop 10 ball bearings.

They are never as quiet as they were at first, but they do improve. However, it does take a lot of playtime.

This isn’t just a OD 10ball thing; The majority of bearings out there will have some sort of break-in period as whatever little factory lube wears off and any minuscule imperfections on the balls smooth out. The “Play through it” method is a 50/50 shot. It can work, but if it doesn’t work or you just don’t want to bother with it then clean the bearing and it will play fine.
