No more expensive yoyos for me

As is often said, text messages sometimes don’t adequately convey the thought/intent

For clarity I was just being a wise guy:smirking_face:. Riffing on the misplaced hope in equipment rather than practice, study, and dedication. 1500 is quite impressive!

Money definitely does not buy skill I spent a bunch of money and I still suck lol

Like any hobby the only thing that matters is that we are having fun.

Don’t worry, there are two of us!

This means more expensive yoyos for ME

I thought that that’s how this hobby works!

Me, in every hobby I’ve ever had

I’m just a sucker for the high end quality of niche hobbies

Pretty sure that what qualifies something as a hobby and not just an interest is how much it costs.

If people can go buy $500 golf clubs to go score a whatever is bad in golf idk I don’t golf, I can absolutely buy a $300 titanium yoyo and throw it up and down and smile :joy:

Not everything has to be about performance and super serious. Your hobby doesn’t have to be a Christopher Nolan Batman, it can be an Adam West Batman!

It not fair that that argument doesn’t work “sweetheart it could be so much worse, I could be a gambler or worse yet, a golfer!” And all I get is side eye and “No, you cannot buy the weird amber Jeff Goldblum mosquito yoyo”

Hey. An even worse hobby is you could be the one making the amber Jeff Goldblum weird mosquito yoyo that costs way more to make 100 of than buying one and probably will sell terribly! :joy:

Make that argument with your SO?

I will try and report back with my findings

To this day, I find it awesome that Gentry Stein won the 2015 US Nationals using a $16 Replay Pro. Skill matters more than gear.

Triple bogey is bad. I don’t golf but I Mario Golf!

(re side conversation about manta ray)

Spintastics isn’t gone - the Olivers sold business to another online yoyo retailer (citation: Our Story – Spintastics).

Never had any issues with mine. It’s a little heavier than I prefer for 0a, but the weight does open up fun possibilities vs lightweight wooden yoyos.

There’s so many “classic” yoyos like this that are pretty affordable, get talked about with much reverence, looks pretty neat, but I know I would just be a bit disappointed in because I don’t have the nostalgic link to them. I have so many excellent Responsives, I just have no way to justify collecting these classics as well unfortunately

Just a thought.

Didn’t know that, Thanks.

Thanks. I was about to scramble to find a way to get a Quicksilver, Manta Ray and pair of Hurricanes if they were indeed closed!
