New to the forums and tricks in general...

Hi everyone  I of course grew up in the 90’s so a yoyo was awesome then, and just recently a friend had gotten really into it so I bought a “decent” (since i cant buy the good ones online yet…) Duncan Reflex. Not the greatest, but its helping me along.

We’re both trying to learn some of the beginner and base tricks, such as Breakaway, Trapeze, and the basic loop. Not doing TOO bad, but with a better yoyo I believe this could go better.

Anywho, what I wanted to ask was this; In the videos Ive noticed that people are able to take their completely dead yoyo, and sort of…“pop” it and it comes back string wrapped nicely and ready for a trick. As you can imagine, this would be awesome for a newer person to learn, since it can be tiresome to mess up and have to wind up the string every few tricks. Could anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this?

Also, are there any other basic string tricks a newbie should/could learn? Maybe even a few loops if I get brave enough :stuck_out_tongue:

First of all welcome to the forums. If you want to get a good yoyo you should wait a bit and get better with your reflex so when you do get better you using a better yoyo will be easier. But if you were to get one I would recommend the FH0.

Well, it depends on your style, but if you’re doing 1A, you should learn a breakaway and sleeper. Must have. Mounts are a good idea too- Trapeze, one and a half, under, split bottom, double or nothing.

I think the trick you were talking about is a snap start. These are two different ways. http://yoyoexpert.com/learn/032-advanced-hand-start.html

Those look like what you’re talking about, but the videos on this site just wont load for me for some reason.

EDIT: Found it on youtube, looks decent enough, but I guess i really need to buy a new yoyo. This one wont spin at all by flicking it.
