I didn’t calculate anything… I really don’t know what I’m doing, but I had fun messing around with it and I wasn’t too worried since an XT is only $5. On my first attempt I made the recess perfect for a 19mm slim pad, but the XT didn’t respond the way I wanted. It was a little too slippy for me. I threw in a half spec bearing and it responded much better, but died quick on the string. I figured Core Co. uses a wider response pad for the Alleycat and tried that. I just grabbed a 1/4” chisel and went at it. It’s a little wider that the Core Co. pads, but somehow it works.
