Hey so I’m looking to get some 3a throws and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions looking for something narrow and heavy with a budget around 200 any recommendations?

Yoooo! Let’s goooo!!! Usually I recommend Nodes or N12s for people to try out the style bc people are usually more hesitant to spend money on a pair at first. The anions and ions by unprld aren’t super heavy but are both very good for the style. If you can find a pair of Titans or TitansXs on bst those or really good for the style. Miiiiight be able to find a pair of hades on bst that has been used for 3a for around that price and that is my favorite pair. Also I only have 1 but I could see Nucleon being a very good 3a Yoyo. Not super heavy but very rimweighted and powerful and good width.
Although, maybe you might want to stick to monos for your first pair bc whatever pair you use first is going to get insanely beat up while you figure out the basics. (Unless you do find titans or hades for that price then just w/e cop them)
I think def look around BST to see what’s out there also like maybe you can get a good pair for less $$. Hopefully this helps and glad to see that you’re interested in learning the style! It’s super fun!

I’m learning with a pair of C3 Cyber Crash 2’s and so far they haven’t failed me yet! Good power for a monometal and narrow, alongside giving you plenty of leftover room for your budget.

I came to ask if there was a set of recommended plastics.
Also, is there any “specs” that make a decent starter 3a set? Like if I have two matching throws should I bust it out?

As I said I haven’t the slightest idea about 3a. Just trying to save you some money on yoyos you are a about to ding.

Nah plastics aren’t as durable and don’t spin as well. Better to just start with cheap metal yo-yos.
@DaneMartin you generally (generally bc so much is preference) but generally want something heavier and/or powerful bc you just lose more spin than playing 1a. Narrowish gap is good because string is a lot shorter and binding can be annoying with really short string. Narrowish is better bc the yo-yos need to be able to pass each other and you don’t want to have to swing them super far out of plane. Also narrow is easier when doing velvet combos bc you’re less likely to land on both strings like that. The width doesn’t matter as much for basics but does make a difference later. If you have two yo-yos that you don’t mind dinging up, just use those.
Edit: heavier/powerful ie rimweighted is also just easier to control and no one really needs the yo-yos to be super nimble and agile in the style. Idk it’s definitely preference bc some amazing players use more normal weight yoyos but ime heavier is better. Hades is cool bc it’s super heavy but also has like thick walls and isn’t minmaxed for rim weight so it feels a lot more agile than the 80g would lead one to believe.
