My 1$ yoyo

I got one today found it at my dollar tree near my house they were filled to the brim with these yoyos yay! Now how do I modify to be un responsive?

A new dollartree just opened near here. Unfortunately when I went yesterday there weren’t any yoyos.

The dollar tree throws are total junk. They feel like a tin can that was smashed into a yoyo shape ha. Doesnt mean you cant mod it and make it an awesome cheap throw. I just couldnt stand the feel and playbility

I can’t believe you guys are getting me to seriously think about getting these $1 yo-yos. And I’m thinking of getting a bunch for my yo-yo club (like others have mentioned). This thread belongs in the “you know you’re obsessed with yoyos” thread. You know you’re obsessed when you have over $100 of yoyos purchased on black Friday on the way and you go to Dollar Tree to buy these!

Dang it. I’ll be back in a half hour or so. :stuck_out_tongue:

Loool

I found a good mod to be to put some of the small round magnets on the outer ring it’s easier than using the copper wire!

you know when your obsessed when you spen $100 on dollar tree yoyos

I gave away about 20 at the Contest today. Lots of happy beginners and pros walking home with something new and interesting.

I got two, 1 red 1 black, to try them out. While it vibes like an old washing machine on spin cycle, it’s not a bad throw for only a buck, or in this case two. I played with the red one for nearly an hour. I couldn’t do skin the gerbil like others said they could. I got a knuckle cracking trying to do that one. But out of the “box”, any kid could have some serious fun with this thing. I’m looking forward to trying out some of the mod ideas here.

Thanks for dragging me into a new realm of cheap yoyos. I hate you all. ;D

We don’t have a dollar tree here in hawaii. anyone willing to pick up like 10 for me and ship it here? haha Paypal ready ;D

Somebody said that you could contact dollar tree and they would send you like 20 or something shipped, but do not really know how to do it :-\

Here is the information. If you are doing a demo, going to a contest, or want to donat some to a charity, this is the way to go. I just gave away 20 at the contest we just had in Vancouver.

call Dollar Tree at 1-877-530-TREE (8733) and give them this SKU number 187265, the yoyo will pop up on the computer of the person helping you on the phone & you can order them. Here is the catch. They must be ordered by the case, which is 24 yoyos, so they must be ordered in increments of 24.

Thanks a BUNCH! i’m excited to get some… a bunch… haha this should be a nice stocking stuffer for my little cousins, nieces, and nephews as well :stuck_out_tongue: hehe

Just picked up one of these yesterday, it needs some work, but I figure some steel weight rings and plastic caps and this thing will be a beast! Definitely worth a dollar haha. Will post results when done modding!

Best advice from a 3 time World Yoyo modding Winner>

Amazing $tree Yoyo mod> first, get a dollar tree Yoyo. Completely disassemble it. Put the parts on a table.

Now, get a CLYW Yeti. Completely disassemble the Yeti and also put the parts on the same table.

Now to construct a Yoyo. Instead of using the left half of the $tree Yoyo, use the left half of the Yeti. Next, instead of using the axle of the $tree Yoyo, substitute the Yeti axle. Now, instead of using the response system of the $tree Yoyo, use the snow tires from the Yeti. Next, instead of using the right half of the $tree Yoyo, add the right half of the Yeti. … Don’t get carried away and waste money on some custom string. Just use the string that came with the $tree Yoyo, to keep modding costs down.

BAMN! There you have it! Something to be proud of. Your first mod and it came out Outstanding!

Finish up by throwing All the left over parts in the proper trash container. I got my trash can at the $tree.

Cant wait to see!

Has anyone replaced the bearing inside?

Some people did, but the bearing ended up eating the string I heard.

Well the problem I had was they simply don’t fit, haha

They’re like small, but big… at the same time! But it would probably be like 100x better with a better bearing

The only standard ‘c’ sized bearings that work are the ones that have a groove down the middle, like the crucial or the BOSS bearings. I have a crucial grooved concave in one of mine and it plays awesome.
