This is you with your bearings
You could also try thicker string.
This is where personal preference plays a big roll.
When you get a chance; Pick up Thin Yoyo Lube, Thick Yoyo Lube and some Silicone grease. If thick grease doesnt do it, fill your bearing with glue and play it as a fixed axel (Joke).
Start with Thin Lube. Not enough response, go to thick lube, still not enough - Silicone Grease. At this point you are tuning the yoyo to you and your play style.
You can experiment with extra string wraps around the bearing. With a Deeper State, dry 10ball and OD string I find that:
1-2 wraps provides no reliable response
3 wraps provides reliable response with a strong tug
4 wraps provides reliable response with a light tug
5 wraps doesn’t sleep
Different string thickness/material make a difference.
Grease may still provide a better overall result.
I have to be honest and say that I’ve never really given multiple wraps around the axle a fair shake. My peculiar way of looking at things just won’t allow me to do it. I can’t tell you why… it’s just one of my many quirks. There’s absolutely no reason that multiple wraps couldn’t also be the perfect solution for someone. I’d say it’s similar to what I like to accomplish with an infinitely more simple approach. Still a dry bearing and forcing the pads to do the response. I’d say the feel is very similar.
thick lube gives me the reliable response i like on all my purpose designed modern responsives, deeper state included. 1-2 drops is all you need.
I was with you until the last week or so. I didn’t think it made sense on a yoyo with a bearing but it does. I was messing with the flat earth because it came unresponsive. An extra wrap made a big difference. I eventually lubed the bearing and went back to a single loop but it certainly changed my opinion.
does anybody have a docpop pltps with the cw that they are willing to give trade?
Yeah it’s a neat throw
Yes.
I got the Lite so no cw for me but I like it.
I’m not 100% sure why but its my hardest yoyo to hit tricks on so far.
I’m a noob too tho …grain of salt.
Gap is pretty narrow. What kind of tricks are you having a hard time hitting?
You can use any CW. Doesn’t have to be the one that comes with the PLTPS.
I got to try the PLTPS at regionals the other week. Everything about it feels premium, but might not be the easiest to learn your first stall. Pull start hub works amazing!
Right now I’m just drilling the basics, trapeze, and his bro, double or nothing, front mount into a couple basic tricks.
I can hit it 90% of the time on my Confusion, Origen, Firecracker and more often than not on the Mijo and Harbinger but the PLTPS just takes more effort as does the RBC.
Which is fine with me as im working on dialing in my form and accuracy for the next few months as I learn new tricks and put more combos together.
Synopsis;
There are yoyos that make some tricks easier. Then there are yoyos that make it more difficult.
The more difficult you play, the more accuracy you need.
Thats part of what makes it fun to me. Can I do a Trick, sure on This yoyo. But I have yo Work on it to do it on That yoyo.
“Fast is fine, but accuracy is everyrhing.” Wyatt Erp
Your First list is wide gap/catch zone, decent stability and balance. These do very well in the 1A area you are working.
Your second list is Narrower Gap Higher wall. Medium dificulty.
Your last List is your Difficult zone, High wall, less stable, based off the the yoyo designs them selves. These will be Great at 0A style. So same tricks, but try them with stalls. Trappeze Stall, Double or Nothing Stall, Brother Stall… There are videos of these in the Fixed Axel February 2024 threads. Some contestants did them in a single combo!
You got a great yoyo set going!
I like to practice doing Rewind with stalls.
Thanks for the insight.
I actually hit a few stalls by accident lol. I didnt know how to get out of them so just rewound and threw again.
I need to study them a bit more, maybe i’ll do that tonight.
i really like this idea, getting that triple or nothing sounds pretty challenging.
Trapeeze Stall and Brother Stall are in this thread, with links to the individual tricks. Also, you can scroll through the thread and see how “Others” do them.
That triple or nothing is my Achilles’ heel.
