MK1 and Spinworthy present - The RBC!

A company could even make a contest where some lucky winners would get a special yoyo if they happened to buy the one with a specific engraving under the pads… maybe it could be a limited run of gold yoyos…

I’ve still yet to replace my 2.5mm bearing with the 3mm bearing in either of my RBC’s lol

The good feeling about the 3mm is warranted, but, my giddy aunt, do not buy one for over $64!!!

Get a far cheaper ceramic of Amazon or Aliexpress or something.

I’m not sure if I’ve seen 4mm, but it’s probably useless for the RBC. It will neither do responsive or unresponsive well.

If you want good response with further string trick ease, go the 3mm.

If you want unresponsive, go a 5mm.

If they make 2mm, 2.5mm, and 3mm then you just need to beefcake it with a pair.

Quick question for @Glenacius_K - Is there any point to a ceramic bearing in a responsive throw like the RBC, given you may wind up lubing it anyway? I’ve got a full ceramic I’ve considered tossing into my Deep State, then reasoned that made no sense at all. I’ll have the same quandry later in the week when my RBC gets here.

There is no point in a ceramic bearing for the RBC, only that it could possibly sound different.

It doesn’t make sense, that’s why it amuses me to do it.

How does the 3mm bearing play in the rbc ?? And How Does it play a little differently compared to the 2.5mm bearing ??

I bought some W3 and W4 versions. (3mm wide and 4mm wide)

W3 is nice, they’re still reliably responsive but allow more room for string tricks. W4 is temperamental. I couldn’t find any W2 that were a reasonable price. Cleaned and beefcaked 2.5’s are still the best way to get it “unresponsive” because it adds a little groove to help the string stay away from the pads.

4mm wide versions:

If anyone wants to try a 3/4mm bearing let me know, I can ship you some in an envelope (if you cover shipping + a bit for the bearing).

@MarkD Not sure I completely understand what you mean by “cleaned and beefcaked” and the little groove. I’ve had a few grooved C bearings, but I’m not seeing any 2.5mm with grooves?

Cleaned = dipped in solvent to get rid of any stray lubricant
Beefcaked = stack two of them on top of each other. An old modding technique.

Note the groove that forms between the two bearings!

Thanks! I obviously know “cleaned” - do that all the time. But “Beefcaked” was definitely a new term to me. I’ve already ordered a few spare 2.5s, I’ll have to give this a try once the RBC actually gets here. Thanks again! And thanks in advance to both you and @Glenacius_K for what I expect to be a stellar throw!
