YYF Genesis in flat ano powder coat half blue half red…
Turned out basically flawless as far as application…

My. god. I have got to get some new throws PC’ed. Can you do splashes with the new flat ano?

Have not tried yet but have plans to run a test piece. Not sure how it’s gonna look due to the fact that the colors need to be over polish. That’s fine for the bottom piece but can’t say what the splash will look like over the first color. Can certainly do a splash over polish though. That may sound a bit confusing but a quick explaination would be polished yoyo then each color done in splash. The polish would be the primary color highlighted by the splash. Just like my Quickmate a few pages back. Will need to see how they unfold as far as combo’s go.

Does acetone remove PC?

Not effeciently. I really don’t mess around with what does and doesn’t remove powder for the simple fact I’m to lazy to do it. I stick with what I know works and keep everything else as far away from my projects as possible.

I was just thinking, if you masked off a splash using rubber cement or something, and then removed the non masked off part with acetone, and then re-PC-ed it, you might get a splash?

Tried the rubber cement before and it doesn’t fair to well in the 400 degree oven. Certain silicones and sealants work but make for an insane time at getting them off. The high temp tape and the additive that turns powder into liguid works the best. Once the powder hardens over the masking agent it can be tough to maintain that line upon removing it though. Tape likes to pull it silicone likes to get under it etc.

More than one way to skin a cat though.

Try Permatex Ultra Copper Silicone Gasket Maker, I’ve found that it’s fairly easy to remove when cured by just rubbing it off, and it can withstand temperatures up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thanks for the tip. Here’s what I have found through my experience with the silicones and powder.

They can be removed after the powder has cured but what typically happens is the area right where the powder and silicone/gasket maker meet is trouble. When you go to remove the sili the bulk of it comes off but now there is an ever so small amount trapped under the now very hard powder. Once you start picking and rubbing and screaming at it you begin to pull powder off or dull up your nice polish job or better yet stab yourself in the finger with whatever it is your using to remove this newly created abomination. All this was back in the begining of my powder journey and I was just a bit under gunned with lack of experience. Now time permitting, which is the real problem, I feel much better prepaired when wading into uncharted waters. I always try to push into new areas and will continue to do so as I need a effective way to secure true splash patterns.

If you perfected splash man…that would be so cool. Imagine translucent splashes…

Would be a prime candidate for a 15,000 view giveaway! 8)

This powder is very lightly textured and is similar in appearance to bead blast, sort of ::)…
Will be reviewed by someone soon…

SWEET MOTHER OF O.o
You made my ugly AC into a true beauty…
Man oh man.

This powder is one you have to get up on in order to get the full effect. Has a nice shimmer to it that my garage lighting won’t let out.

That why I did a quick vid under the light at night. Seems to catch a bit more of the sparkle, subtle though.

YYF Superstar in a flat ano mix of red and blue. That’s both colors mixed together then applied. The Addiction in purple and Eneme in pink/blue are on either side so you can see the difference in the blue and purple.

Keep em’ coming!

The hub almost looks like an acid wash, very cool effect. I think there is some really good potential with these flat ano powders.
